  1. Fingers crossed. I am worried about the whole Disney connection and being part of a cinematic universe thing though. It is going to need to smash records and be like a 95%+ RT film to get the BP nom I think. On a related aside, what if IO, Martian, TFA, Fury Road, and Creed all scored BP noms? I mean it will never happen, but would be a nice change of pace in a way from the Academy's usual token populist nom. The Revenant, Joy, Carol, Room, and Spotlight could be the other half of the noms for their usual types.
  2. All the usual rules and deadlines: 1. Will Krampus open to at least $10M? NO 2. Will Krampus open to at least $15M? 3000 NO 3. Will Krampus open to at least $20M? NO 4. Will Hunger Games finish at least $4M clear of Good Dinosaur? NO 5. Will Creed drop less than 38%? NO 6. Will Macbeth have a PTA above $24000? YES 7. Will Spotlight have a better weekend change than Brooklyn? 2000 YES 8. Will Peanuts cross $125M by end of Sunday? NO 9. Will Spectre have a Sunday above $2.2M? NO 10. Will The Night Before's PTA stay above $2000? NO 11. Name one film in the top 15 that drops more than 50% (or state none)? 3000 MJ2 12. Will Legend enter the top 15 this weekend? NO 13. Will Victor Frankenstein finish above Trumbo? NO 14. Will Love the Coppers stay within 750k of The Martian this weekend? YES 15. Will Krampus become the best post 2010 Christmas Horror Comedy based around a German folktale ever released in USA cinemas? SURE. THAT HORROR OF A GERMAN FOLKTALE COMEDY FROZEN IS GOING DOWN! 11/15 - 2000 12/15 - 3000 13/15 - 5000 14/15 - 7000 15/15 - 10000 Part 2. 1. What will Krampus' Friday to Saturday percentage change be? 16.666 2. What will The Hunger Games' total be come Sunday? 231.200 3. What will Minions' weekend gross be this weekend? 69,015 Part 3. 3. Creed 5. Spectre 7. Peanuts 9. Brooklyn 12. Love the Coopers 3/5 2000 4/5 5000 5/5 10000
  3. It looks pretty horrid quite honestly. But I still don't see that stopping it from a 75-110m run.
  4. Fury Road or Inside Out are much more memorable and all around superior if they wanted to award a populist film.
  5. Agreed with all of this. I too have been surprised by the lack of enthusiasm among friends and family considering the movie's legs. I mean everyone I know feels the same as me. A competent film, but nothing special. I guess maybe sometimes just "good" really is good enough though. I think the film has the advantage of not being one that is going to be hated by much of anyone. It's way too inoffensive. So that obviously helps with legs. The worst thing for legs is always really negative WOM from certain people, and I doubt The Martian had much of that.
  6. DWA should be OK again. Home was their first surprise hit in ages, and this is pretty much guaranteed to be their most profitable film in years with OS.
  7. If MJ2 manages 300 then it officially had amazing WOM, because getting a 3x multi for that kind of film in the face of its late legs facing SW would be downright amazing. It would almost make MJ2's performance the most impressive of all the THG movies in a way.
  8. Well I guess I will choose to be in denial then that TGD will still be the preferred SW family sellout choice over this. I mean how many parents will want to bear another Alvin film over a Pixar one they may not have seen yet since it didn't open huge? I can hope at least.
  9. Well the easy on the eyes animation nullifies a little bit of the cringe factor. Take out the animation and you're left with a pretty awful short though. I remember my friend and I both turning to each other in unison in the theater and giving a serious "WTF is this" look about half way through it. It's for sure the silliest concept Pixar has ever come up with at least.
  10. Mother of god. Don't even say such things! If it gets a 20m OW it would do 100 with holiday legs. It needs to be doing no more than 10-12 on OW.
  11. Because "I want to be in lava with you" sounds like something one of the animator's pre-schoolers doodled and they decided to turn it into a whole short once they realized they still needed one to attach to IO.
  12. If MJ2 can manage a better multi than MJ1 than THG will have the pretty cool distinction of having had every film in the franchise score a better multi than the last.
  13. Well I "only" get 8 wrong opposed to 10 now at least. What an awful two weeks for me. Though I was stubbornly bullheaded on two of the questions this week I should've known the answer to by Thursday. I'm surprised there are actually some who got question 16 right. I mean basically the worst possible scenario had to happen for it to be No (TGD had to severley underperform and VF had to have one of the worst wide openings ever). And it did, but it still just missed it by like 1m is all.
  14. The whole "yeah but it's artistic!" argument has always made me chuckle as well. I mean sure, but it's deliberately about as sensual and erotic as they could make it too. Just ask old Rose. So again, JC worked some crazy jedi mind tricks on the MPAA to pull that one off. Or else he really did threaten lives/careers.
  15. I didn't love the short only because I feel there was so much potential there and they only tapped into a fraction of it. So yeah, I would actually love to see a feature about it.
  16. I love JLaw and I'm sure she's great in the film, but her delivery of that line is as over the top and awkward as it gets.
  17. Dear god. That's going to give me nightmares. Think of the children!
  18. You can only pick films released between 10/16 and 12/11. So only The Danish Girl and Suffragette out of those are eligible.
  19. I see an Epic/Peabody run for it DOM. I do think it could be huge OS though.
  20. It did connect with me, but I do agree this is much simpler than they usually go and I am interested to see how it holds on re-peat viewings when I'm able to maybe pick my jaw up off the floor just from looking at it.
  21. They should just give it to him for Wolf of Wall Street this year, since they didn't award one of the top 10 performances in cinema history the year it actually came out.
  22. Yeah, it's almost as cringe-worthy as: "Never speak........................................................on my behalf.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................about my business.......................................................................................again!"
