    I guess the marketing of DP1 did the best humanly possible for a R-rated comedy, and DP2 can only match that instead of top that. I mean I was one of those who believed DP2 would open to the same ballpark number as DP1 when the sequel was confirmed, but as the Marvel SH movies just kept getting hotter and hotter since DP1, I thought DP2 would benefit from that and opened to a rather bigger number. Guess we're all just spoiled by DP1's success right?

    I think the real reason is very simple: everyone loves to see a dramatic boxoffice run, no matter whether it's a dramatic success or a dramatic bomb like TLJ. I don't think people really have a thing against SW or Disney. If TLJ made let's say $80m, that'd still be a boxoffice disappointment, but surely not an entertaining disappointment. You can't deny a 92% second wknd drop is dramatic and entertaining, and that's what TLJ had. People are still mocking Justice League, not because all of them are against DC, but because JL' pathetic boxoffice run is entertaining.

    Arnold was in his absolute prime during that time. I think in the making of stuff of T2 home video Cameron said that the studio basically told him they would give it a go as long as he got Arnold in. I think it means basically the studio had a tougher time coming up with a paycheak big enough to satisfy Arnold, than worrying about the profitablity of the actual movie.

    IW will have another $200m+ OW, in China this wknd. So, anyone being bored with IW's DOM numbers can go to the China BO thread. Although, that $200m OW sounds nice but it was $240-260m a couple of days ago. Over-predictions happen a lot in that thread, but, well, did I just make it sound less impressive? I mean, just a $200m OW, nothing special comparing to $260m. Sorry for ruining your desire of going to that thread if that's how you see it.

    I think I have a better answer to your own question: Avatar and Titanic are just a lot more discussion-worthy (or you might want to call it "flamewar-worthy") than most of the movies out there. Avatar particularly, as long as it's still the highest grossing film of all time. But on the other hand, I agree with you that the two you-know-who Cameron fans have contributed a lot of pointlessness in this thread (and the Avatar thread), particularly by their sort of talking-to-each-other-chitchat posts which should've happened on Whatsapp messaging. But then this thread is created for better management of fanboy flamewars, so it's better not to expect very constructive posts from this thread.

    @aabattery Come on this is getting ridiculous. Cameron-related discussion now contributes (over) half of the total activities in this thread. And it sure looks like it will be that way till Avatar 2 release. And yet it only counts as "etc." in the thread title? You want fanboy wars? How about honoring the biggest fanboy on this site IronJimbo, by adding Cameron to the thread title.

    Quaritch is a one-dimensional character, but a badass villain. I'd rather have a villain like that instead of a little bitch like Kylo Ren who shows his inner-struggle side in every 5 minutes of his screentime but at the end of the day is a little bitch. Seriously, Quaritch is more Darth Vader than Kylo Ren lol

    Well I remember people saying TFA OW record wont be broken for a long time, and yet it only took less than 3 years.
