Titanic | James Cameron | Pretend it's 1997 all over again (The pure awe of Titanic's run)

Recommended Posts

You know, I saw this movie MouseHunt and it was...better than you'd think. Who knows if this Gore Burbenski guy will amount to much of anything though...

Thanks for the rec, I will give that a try...as I like goofy movies sometimes and also Nathan Lane!!!

Got this for my sister's Christmas present.  She's gonna love playing it over and over on her walkman!

(Another sidenote:  It wasn't until 2003 that I bought a car with a cd player.)

Your Lucky, My Father used to tell me about 8 Tracks, 1970s I guess??? Which you had to play out as I don't think they could fast forwarded...

But on tapes, I have ruined so many tapes as they get stretched out from overplaying and the heat when I leave them in my car.

Hopefully one day, they will come up with something better than a cassette tape....but I have about 1000 of them! So maybe not????

Yeah I agree. If I have to replace all my cassettes it'd be a huge pain.

It's not amazing...might want to wait for it to come out on VHS and rent it from Wherehouse, but worth a watch.

ah we have our first report from Gitesh Pandya.. (Boxofficeguru)

Gotta think that 8 golden globe nominations will help this film...... can u believe it's got 8 of these... whether it can win is another thing of course...

boxofficeguru does indeed think a 150m is likely here like most are now saying...

weekend numbers:

Was a close one with the new bond but titanic came up trumps with a very nice average too... 150m+ looking good in my book :)

Scream 2 collapsed though (after posting the biggest ever december opening)  titanic has posted the 2nd biggest december opening over behind scream 2 :)  flubber continues to track nicely......

My projections from here are:

titanic 150m - 175m

Tomorrow never dies - 130m - 150m.

That would be some strong legs to get it to 150 but from what im hearing people are loving it. I saw it twice this weekend already. Going again for sure.

given it's got christmas in it's 2nd weekend it should hold very well through the next 2 to 3 weekends, so i think 150m is very likely from this point - remember it's just posted the 2nd biggest opening ever and with 8 golden globe noms you would have to think it's going places.....

I know a lot of peope who want to see this

I'm off to see it tonight myself, but it's my understanding this just posted a 3.2m opening weekend in australia which is the 12th all time opening weekend here.. not bad

( haha Talkie Signs is my fav movie!) I am still mad that the Lost World did not cross 300 million :( but it still made a very impressive 229 million! And everyone here seems to have a strange obsession with boobs, you watch a film just to see them? And ouch at Scream 2's legs!

so the thinking is that Titanic will be flat (maybe a small fall) next weekend ?

Christmas is usually good for holds...isnt it?

Where can we get info on previous year's weekend box office data?

(out of character:  it looks like Guru started posting weekend data in 1997 and Mojo wasn't around yet - I can't remember what other sites I used to go to.  back in character)

So I was listening to the radio this morning and rumor has it that James Cameron already has plans to release this on dvd....ugh, when will studios get that nobody is buying those things. Videotape is sooo much better, I feel like a dvd can easily get lose because its so thin and it looks exactly like a cd, so confusing.
