Cmasterclay
People went crazy going to the movies last weekend. A movie's an expensive investment these day for the common movie goer, so the box office is naturally going to depress for a couple of weeks after a record setting month and previous weekend.

kayumanggi
Still a good chunk of sequels in there. Yes but not as many compared to this year.
A Marvel Fanboy
The same drop but not the same legs. So far didnt see much difference. Great wom didnot do any good to FF6's legs and bad wom didnt hurt HO3 from making gangbusters. Edited June 1, 2013 by firedeep
kitik
So AE gonna increase on Sat, right ? So AE will still beat NYSM OW ? After you factor out the Thursday night showings, AE made more than NYSM on Friday. Since its the type of film that should get a bigge Saturday jump, I don't see how it finishes behind NYSM. If it does finish behind NYSM for the weekend, it might really be the bad WOM preventing people from seeing it who ordinarily otherwise would've. A movie's an expensive investment these day for the common movie goer, so the box office is naturally going to depress for a couple of weeks after a record setting month and previous weekend. And it's not even that depressed really, it's still a bigger weekend than the one last year.
kitik
So far didnt see much difference. Gopher
We're probably going to see a depressed weekend next week too. FF6 and The Purge may be the only films over 20m. Nothing's having a good hold this weekend, but I'm surprised how badly Epic is dropping. Spaghetti's under 120m seems likely now.
Lordmandeep
IM3 is fine still heading for 400 million easily. ST2 is not doing good anymore. Even so I expect films will rebound next weekend with lack of good films.
lab276
But HO3 supposedly got horrible reactions ...Bigger openings tend to get bigger drops than smaller openings, no matter the WOM.

Jandrew
It's less than F5 on it's 2nd Friday.Well shit. Cant understand why...what about that AE #? It looks to be $24-27M? Haha I mean its bad, but technically if no one saw AE, no one saw NYSM either.
Cmasterclay
I'm excited for alot of the actual movies coming out next summer in terms of quality/hype, but I'm not optimistic about the box office in the slightest. I'm pumped as hell for X-Men, Apes, 21JS, Godzilla, and Fast Seven, but there's certainly no Avengers/TDKR/Iron Man 3/MOS level event. kitik
Early Weekend Projections & Analysis: http://www.boxoffice.com/statistics/bo_numbers/early_estimate/2013-06-01 that is a really awful set of drops you have posted there
Jay Beezy
I think so too. AE is supposed to play more like family movie. Key word being supposed to. But there are already more appealing movies out that families are going to.
A Marvel Fanboy
Bigger openings tend to get bigger drops than smaller openings, no matter the WOM. Still not enough to justify the great WOM for FF6 ... So I guess CS is useless indeed.
