REVISED Weekend Estimates 6/14--6/16: Man of Steel OW $116.7M($128.7M including WM)

Recommended Posts

9 million is the midnight and is included in that number. 12 million is the Walmart tickets. They did include the midnight. The 12 million were tickets that WB sold to Walmart and were bought ahead of time. All of those films did not have that advantage?

All of those films had Thursday previews. Since the studios lumped them in with midnights, they're including in the Friday #s

You're not seriously trying to explain this to me like I'm a newbie, are you?  :)

The money should count because regardless of who bought the tickets, the tickets were sold.  7pms have counted with other films this summer, and they should count towards MOS.

Well WB could choose to count them and they are not, so what's the big deal.

Walmart chose to buy those tickets.  Those tickets were tickets that were for a 7 pm showing.  FF6, STID, Internship, Purge, AE all had 7pm shows.

Wait maybe im out of the loop but did Aurora really affect midnights one year on? Example ?

Of course it did.  We don't have midnights anymore.

It's not a big deal to WB, they have the record and they have the money.  But since we no longer have midnights, and most films now have Thursday sneaks, then the 12 mill should go to the opening weekend.

I was not aware that midnight is no longer in use.

I don't agree with this one bit.  All of these films on this list (sorry, most of these films) benefited from midnights.  Midnights are basically gone now because of Aurora.  So that 21 mill it made on Thurs should count or else none of these films can say that they can count their midnights either.  So MOS did 128 mill for OW.

Huh? Of the films listed most Transformers 2, Shrek 2, Revenge of the Sith and Pirates 3 opened on either a Wednesday or a Thursday. All would've opened higher than Man of Steel had they opened on a proper Friday even with WalMart $12M included had they opened on a Friday, especially given 3D and inflation.

You're not seriously trying to argue it made $21m on Thursday, are you? Because that's what you wrote.

It did.  And that is irrefutable.

Well, I've been up all night and the CBS News all night said it grossed 113M OW, so whatever this is about 116M shouldn't really matter.. It's still a Hit for Heaven sakes... :slaphead:

What? hahaha. Why wouldn't it matter? it's a good thing. It moves up like 4 places on all time chart for opening weekend.

Don't worry, we know it's a hit, it's just a slightly bigger one now, lol.

Friday starts at 00.01.

Only grosses after that time should be included as Friday. Because Thursday can't merge into Friday.

Studio's may have a lot of money, but they can't change the day system, lol.

I know other studios include thursday previews into the weekend gross, but they shouldn't be allowed to.

Warner Bros are doing the right thing here, IMO.

And if it wont? Then wom is good right ?

A sign of good legs.

But the Sunday hold could only make the Monday drop look a lot bigger than it should.

It will look big BUT IT WILL BE NORMAL.

12M is expected for Monday.

Talking about WW, what do you think of Alexandra Daddario as WW?

She is 27 years old, (Lynda Carter was 24 when WW season 1 started).

Yes, she is the choice of many of the members here for Wonderwoman.  She is ridiculously good looking.
