It's not particularly scary, but despite the severe misstep of casting Keanu (and to a lesser degree, casting Winona) this is a really stylish and fun movie, and Coppola pays a lot of homages to early cinema as well. I really dig how much he pushed things visually, with all sorts of multiple superimpositions and super-saturated colors. It was a blast watching this in theaters!

 

Oh yeah, and Monica Belluci as one of the naked vampire brides doesn't hurt either.

You can't often say that the movie is better than the book but in this case it's not even a contest (obviously it doesn't hurt that the book is complete shit but whatever ). Anyway, great atmosphere throughout the whole thing and Oldman was majestic. Sure, Keanu's bad but it doesn't really affect it that much.

One of the movies I despise. They had the budget for a great dracula movie and they made an abomination. The casting is horrible, Gary oldman is a disgusting choice as dracula ( and I love him in general ) and not only that but when he is old he looks like an alien or something . He doesn't have the presence to play this particular role. Antony Hopkins makes a mockery of a character that was extremely serious in the book, Keanu reeves and Winona Ryder are awful .

The worst part of all is the title "BRAM STOKER's Dracula " . Sorry but I have read the book and there is no love story or a sympathetic dracula in there, he is a monster from the very first page he appears . I remember being so hyped about this and soooooo disappointed coming out of the cinema. Oh well there 's always the old hammer movies ....

Everyone but Hopkins gives bad performances and the plot is atrocious, we don't know why things are happening until almost 2/3 through this 130 minutes movie.

 

the sound editing was good, I guess.

fascinating film.  I think it won 3/4 technical Academy Awards.  Gary Oldman gives as crazy a performance as Fifth Element, and Francis Ford Coppla made this and invested alot of attention to detail.
