In 1913 USD was equal to 0.09 INR which would have meant NWH would have done 2.8 billion USD in India alone

This full Week it may be able to do 14-16 Crores  in gross, taking it's total to roughly 274 Crores, which equates to 36m USD. So, it may reach 37 or 38m full run.

NWH when compared to jungle book and IW has a difference of 15cr and 50crs in Gross. 

 

however in terms of admissions there is huge difference 8-9m...is it because of market growth, high ticket prices for spidey?

I did not realize Endgame was over Titanic in admits here, must be one of the few places where that's the case?

Just imagine if in 1997, Asian and LATAM markets were developed as they are today, we would be easy at + $3B and that would have broken admissions records in even more countries, ahead of AEG.

83 will suffer the biggest loss in the history of Hindi cinema as it beats the unwanted records of Bombay Velvet (2015) which had lost around 70 crore. There was also Zero (2018) but that film covered the costs but obviously a value has to be given for the remenuration of Shahrukh Khan and at that time the digital rights were fair value for a star price for a big budget film. So it worked out at a 70 crore value meaning similar loss to Bombay Velvet though on paper only as the star is the producer so there is no loss though if someone else produced the film then the loss would be there.

 

 

Here with 83 it has suffered on two fronts one is obviously the poor box office response in India and the second was that one of the OTT partners refused to budge from an older deal and take the film for a four week window OTT release. This was mainly because of inflated deals of two earlier films from the same studio and these films were huge duds.

 

 

A new deal with a four week window could have cut the losses of the film by around 30-35 crore but it was not be. The recovery of the film will be 80 crore apprx from theatres across the world. There will be 50 crore coming from Star / Hotstar for satellite and digital rights and another 30 crore from Netflix for digital rights. There will another 20 crore from music and regional satellite. This will take the recovery of the film to 180 crore.

 

The budget of the film was 240 crore plus 20 crore for P&A taking it to 260 crore. There were interest costs on this budget due to the delayed release due to the pandemic but to counteract there will be around 25-30 crore coming from UK rebate which will take care of most of the interest costs. So its a 260 crore cost and recovery will be around 180 crore from all revenue sources giving it an 80 crore loss.

 

Unfortunate, it was a genuinely good movie which showed just how unbelievable that 83 win was.

Thugs and Zero remains the biggest losers from Bollywood in absolute money terms, both losing ₹100cr+.

I genuinely want to find out who thought the second half of Zero, and the entire movie of Thugs was a good idea.

 

Zero was a good concept which goes in a really really weird direction in the second half for no reason at all. Thugs is just a bad idea from conception, someone at some point should have said no to Aditya Chopra.

I didn't like first half of Zero of at all. 3rd act in isolation isn't that bad I suppose.

 

Thugs could have been a solid movie I guess.

Zero was very bad move from SRK and especially anand rai who had given good movies like ranjhana, tanu weds manu series...there was nothing good about the movie right from the beginning...even now i am not sure if the concept was good as the end result made me puke while watching my fav actor in bollywood (not now) on big screen.

 

one scene in particular where there is a cameos by bollywood actresses was peaks of cringe!

 

Thugs had disastrous director...if not we would have had indian PoTC!

Among these 2 zero would have posted bigger loss right considering it didn't even touch 100cr in India?
