Collection dropped for two reasons.

1. Normal drop on day two after big opening day, and day 2 wasn't Saturday like EG and IW which held considerably better. FFH dropped 12.5% after just a good start.

2. Pushpa took a lot of screens in South, so South India had bigger drops.

Big Jump today. Mostly 40%.

Spiderman - No Way Home Records Outstanding Four Day Weekend

Spiderman No Way Home recorded an outstanding four day weekend of 108 crore nett with a strong performance all over the country especially in the South. The best performing market from the Hindi circuits was Delhi / UP as it clocked up around 18.50 crore nett,. The numbers in Mumbai circuit were held back a little by Maharashtra due to the 50% occupancy rule which meant Mumbai city and Pune city were not at optimum pace.

West Bengal also saw outstanding figures and so did East Punjab and both these circuits look on pace to surpass the business of Sooryavanshi. Spiderman - No Way Home had around 35% of its business come from South India over the weekend but on day one it was over 40%. The huge drop in Nizam / Andhra on day two when Pushpa released made a dent into the business from the South. Nizam / Andhra had started with an all time record on day one for Hollywood releases.

It is now about the hold on Monday and the target will be to remain in double digits as then the film can benefit next Saturday and Sunday as its a holiday weekend which will ensure good second week numbers. The film also tore apart all post pandemic boxoffice records across the world as it collected around $600 million.  Not only post pandemic but even before that there are only one or two films which can compete with these sort of opening numbers in the history of Hollywood. The india contribution to the worldwide number was around 3%. The business of Spiderman - No Way Home till date is as follows..

Thursday - 32,75,00,000 apprx

Friday - 20,00,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 26,25,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 29,00,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 1,08,00,00,000 apprx

Converted that's:

Charlie's - 130 Crores Gross ~ 17.1m USD till Sunday

Studio's - 140.8 Crores Gross ~ 18.5m USD till Sunday

Spiderman Set To Emerge First BLOCBUSTER In India Post Pandemic
Monday 20 December 2021 19.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Google+ Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Pinterest Addthis

Spiderman - No Way Home is set to emerge the first true BLOCKBUSTER film in India post the pandemic as it holds very steady on Monday. The South India markets are holding up very strongly while the drops are more in Hindi markets they also doing very well.

The film saw a huge drop in Nizam / Andhra on Friday after a record Thursday and on Monday the drop is minimal from Friday and its a very strong trend in other South India circuits. Mumbai and Delhi / UP are heading for 40% drops but that is also very good. The Monday collections of the film may well come in the 13-14 crore nett range.

There have been films that done big numbers post the pandemic but none of these films were BLOCKBUSTERS and Spiderman - No Way Home looks like emerging like the first real one. Sooryavanshi which is the top grosser at the moment was a BLOCKBUSTER in Mumbai but was a HIT film overall. Early on the year  there were films like Master and Vakeel Saab which grossed well but the former just about met their local market expectations while the latter did not even do that. Now there is Pushpa and that seems to be a BLOCKBUSTER in one side of its local market but not the other. There may be smaller films in some places which may have done very well but a true BLOCKBUSTER is always a grosser.

There are various reasons for that like Covid19, restrictions and even ticket pricing for Pushpa and Sooryavanshi starting with an unbalanced market but eventually one film comes through and India its Spiderman - No Way Home.  The way the film is going it will provide competition to 83 on Saturday and Sunday for sure as the families will return.

NWH seems to have grossed 2.5m on Monday...and it has officially passed the monday test! In for an amazing run here

cutting down? Please correct me if i am wrong....do they overestimate numbers and later adjust it with weekdays accordingly?

That's what I have noticed for their past films, this time however diff is a lot.

Also way I understood, I thought the gross/nett numbers include the 3D charges but I am told that it is likely they didn't and Sony is getting share of 3D charges so including them in gross.

Will see how it goes.

Do theaters still charge for 3D? i have watched in 3D and IMAX 3D no separate charges...years back i remember for some hollywood movie paying 30 or 50 for glasses! 🤔

Actuals came a bit lower...the monday fig seems to be around 2-2.2m...definitely has chances but at an all india level...there are some biggies like 83 and Jersey releasing next 2 weekends back to back and matrix released today which means reduction in shows for spidey in plexes...36m should be doable i guess

Wednesday 22 December 2021 12.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Google+ Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Pinterest Addthis

Spiderman No Way Home did well again on Tuesday as it collected another 10.5-11 crore nett taking its six day total to 130 crore nett. The business of the film is around 28 crore nett in Mumbai circuit with Maharashtra on 50% occupancy while Delhi / UP is around 22.50 crore nett which is a superb number and it looks like its on its way to beat Sooryavanashi in Delhi / UP.

Spiderman - No Way Home will beat Sooryavanshi in Delhi / UP, East Punjab and West Bengal out of the Hindi circuits. In South the film has notched up around 17 crore nett in Nizam / Andhra in direct competition with Pushpa. The collections here have held up very well after the drop on day two.

The film looks on course to becoming the first 200 crore nett plus film in India post the pandemic but a lot depends on the second Friday. the Telugu film Pushpa is also in this race and that film also depends on the second Friday. Pushpa has an edge at the moment but collections are dropping faster than Spiderman - No Way Home. The business of Spiderman - No Way Home till date is as follows.

Thursday - 32,75,00,000 apprx

Friday - 20,00,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 26,25,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 29,00,00,000 apprx

Monday - 12,25,00,000 apprx

Tuesday - 10,75,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 1,31,00,00,000 apprx

NWH - Tuesday actuals indicate movie has grossed around 1.8m...NWH weekdays for Spidey is around 3.8-4m

83 Heads For Very Poor Fate

83 is heading for a very poor fate as the first day collections come in lower than expected with awful collections in UP and Maharashtra but the bigger problem is the limited growth on Xmas Day. The film should have grown 60-70% but it maybe limited to around 40-50% which is far too low.

This will mean a two day number of around 28-30 crore nett in hindi as day one is only 12 crore nett apprx and Xmas Day alone had to be doing around 25 crore nett for the film to have a chance of success. This film had a lot of hope pinned onto it by the industry but it seems to have gone wrong badly.

The mass pockets are still not able to grow much on Saturday which is a national holiday. There are a couple of states with more restrictions than day one but Spiderman and Pushpa seem to be showing normal trajectory so the problem seems to be more the actual film here with 83.

Spiderman and Pushpa continue to do well and its is 83 showing far more space capacity which will lead to showcasing changes in time.

NWH 's Friday Collection are 8.65 Crores i.e roughly 1.1m USD taking the total cume to $26m. These are Sony's Numbers, of course.

It's a good drop. It will hopefully cross 30 Crores this weekend and can get 5m USD. Saturday and Sunday bump are good in India.
