It's solid fun. It sometimes goes a little over the deep end in depicting JGL's porn addiction, yet it could ironically go into more depth on the matter, but it's still really funny, challenges rom com cliches, and has some great performances and cool direction from JGL himself.

Pretty good movie! JGL proves to be a pretty damn good director, and his acting is great as well. Scarlett is incredible and almost Oscar worthy. Pretty funny at times. Plot and character development in general felt underwritten. I say it's a solid B

I enjoyed the acting performances and I think that JGL gave a solid directorial debut. But the plot and characters are mostly underwhelming, and some jokes don't work for me. So overall, it was okay. But I'm definitely interested in future projects that JGL will direct.B-/C+

I found this to be enjoyable. It may take a little too long to reach the crux of the story, but in the end it has its own style and vision and offers just enough insight into modern relationships. The kind of film where you can turn off your brain, have a good time, and not feel guilty for doing so.B

Also good to see Glenn Headley in the film.  She was great in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and then she just disappeared.  Nice to see her acting again.  Also, cool to see JGL's former cast mates show up for cameos.  Tatum from Stop Loss and Hathaway from TDKR have minor roles.

I'm gonna guess that the C- Cinemascore was due to people being unpleasantly surprised (and probably weirded out) by the ending and the whole third act, and that was actually the main reason I ended up liking the movie so much. Throughout the movie I admittedly kept assuming that JGL and Johannson would end up together no matter what, and I would accept that, but it felt so refreshing and so much better when JGL didn't suddenly get over his issues, but he just got somewhat better and decided that, actually, in these particular circumstances a widowed, pot-smoking, no-nonsense, probably-at-least-20-years-older-than-him Julianne Moore would be a better match for him than Johannson who, on the surface, seems much closer to being a perfect girlfriend, but in reality has some serious issues of her own which she even refuses to acknowledge. I mean, I still never forgot that these were movie stars that I was watching on screen, but it felt much more real(-istic) and fresh than any studio romcom, and I respect the hell out of JGL for developing the story in that way and having the characters behave like recognizable human beings instead of stock romcom stereotypes that Tatum and Hathaway did so perfectly in that movie-within-the-movie.

Also, I loved Moore getting meta (but not in an overly distracting way) in at least two scenes - first, where she claims, almost winking at the audience, that porn actors are actually, well, acting, and second, when she admits that she just tends to cry for no real reason (of course, we learn the reason, but not until much later).

Maybe it's just me, but I found the fact that he didn't even know what his internet history is, very unrealistic.Other than that, really solid.

Haven't seen the movie but I know that would bother me too.  How could you not know?  lol

If I had to guess, I would assume the C- Cinemascore was due to people going to see it without knowing what it's really about. Let's face it, porn is a tricky subject matter. I thought he handled it very well. But, I can see how a lot of people would be put off by it.

I follow you on DA and have been leaving feedback for you there as well, but I am going to continue my support here. I am looking forward to this very much. All of the teasers you have been providing us with are wonderful. Thank you for all your hard work. I cannot wait to see this develop all the way through.

No idea what that means.

I am sorry how can a man be so addicted to porn that he while on a date with Scarlet Jo he is thinking about porn?

Lol

Anyways interesting Sjo character reminds me of certain females.

They believe men should always act in stereotypical ways? Man likes to do his own housekeeping, he is a sissy lol.

However the movie is true many women and like even the sluttier ones are really put off if a man admits to porn or paying for sex and such.

When the sister actually speaks lol The Truth!

That was the intention of the character. She is inspired by the unrealistic portrayals of relationship shown in romantic movies, the ones that ends up with the guy saying "I'll do anything for you, I promise".

Also the sister maybe portrayed as a feminist possibly atheist.

Yeah, didn't care for it. The first 20 minutes are hilarious but after that it gets sanctimonious with it's message and unnecessarily difficult with it's indie sensibilities. I wish they'd kept the same manic energy they had in those first 20-30 minutes instead of going arthouse.

Scarlett and JGL are both really, really good but overall I was disappointed. I hate to say this, but this needed a better director than Levitt.
