dashrendar44
Nothing against a screenwriter becoming director like David Koepp or Frank Darabont. But Orci is a David Goyer bis.
Dementeleus
There are always exceptions. Maybe Orci will be some sui generis wunderkind. But the odds are against it and you're rolling the dice and hoping to hit double-sixes. It's like Marvel deciding that Jane Espenson should direct AVENGERS 3 (and she's a much, much better writer than Orci).

I call it now.

Empire
How is Hurley holding that lightsaber without his arm getting cut off? I didn't notice he wasn't holding the handle until you said that.
Jonwo
Hardly powerhouse successes, though.... and is that all you're looking for? Remember, this is S T A R T R E K... one of Paramount's crown jewels. Do you think the Broccoli family is gonna hand over BOND 25 to a writer who wants his first crack at directing?Konsinki's more likely to get the gig because he's proven he can direct big budget films and on a sensible budget, Orci doesn't even have screen directing experience either which is why Paramount wouldn't want him directing,

Obviously he's got a couple of VFX-heavy movies under his belt now.
Fancyarcher
Kosinki wouldn't be a bad choice from a visual standpoint, though someone else would need to work on the script. Edited April 23, 2014 by Fancyarcher

Someone else is working on the script, unless you mean Kosinski shouldn't touch it.

BadAtGender
I really want to see Kosinski work when he's not also a writer on the project. His visual sense is outstanding. I've yet to be convinced that the writers selected are going to do a good job, though.
