Weekend estimates: CF-$74.5; FRZ-$66.7; Thor2-$11.1

Recommended Posts

You know as epic as this weekend is it's really only because of Catching Fire and Frozen. The rest of the box office is pretty lackluster actually.

I disagree, according to Rth, top 10 on Friday is around 80m, slightly more than last year.

Yeah but $60 million of that are the top 2 films.

Not trying to undermine other films success, but the excitement this weekend is all the girl on fire and the snow queen.

Sorry to burst some bubbles here, but CF isn't coming near TDKR. A 3X multiplier from Thanksgiving weekend is VERY VERY HARD for a non-holiday themed movie. Next weekend drop will be over 60% in all likelihood.

60%+ drop isn't guaranteed. This film has the benefit that it attracts all ages unlike Twilight and yes even Harry Potter. 55%+ drop is definite though.

Thinking CF will finish in the 400-420 million range at the moment. Now if this baby defies all odds again next weekend...all bets are off.

So you think the best that it can perform after this weekend is like Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 1? You do know that if it performed just like Breaking Dawn Pt 2 after this weekend it would still beat IM3.

The Peter Parker-esque protagonist from Y: The Last Man, the groundbreaking graphic novel series from DC's Vertigo line about the last man left on Earth after a mysterious plagues wipes out the entire male population.  So obviously it's just Yorick and his pet monkey in a post-apocalyptic world managed only  by women. DJ Caruso threatened to rape the series by making a film with Shia as Yorick some time back but thankfully that crime against humanity never happened.

That needs to be a tv series

Let it drop 60% next weekend then. Even if that happens it will be over 350m by the end of next weekend. Saying it won't come near TDKR seems a bit silly. Maybe it won't beat it, but it damn sure is gonna make a run for it now.
