kayumanggi
Final #Hobbit opening wknd gross coming in just as WB estimated. $73.7M. $9.2M of that from Imax. https://twitter.com/giteshpandya/status/412602121591488512 Edited December 16, 2013 by kayumanggi
Sam
That is still estimate, right? Cause we only get official much later in the day. But that's good that studio estimate holds. So most likely a better Sun drop than us here thought.

druv10
How is this a final? Probably a revised estimate from WB this morning. Remember Rth said that they're estimate was pretty spot on for Sunday.
ecstasy
Gitesh does this all the time and he's always off. Maybe this time he'll be right.

JarJarBinks
Yeah, it's a revised estimate from WB this morning. WB's revised weekend estimates are almost always very close to actuals, but usually change slightly with actuals.

Yup, read about this earlier today.. and my first reaction was "Why?". Absolutely no one has asked for a sequel, and the movie itself has become more of a pop culture punchline than anything in the past 15 years. This is somewhat like the sequel to "We are the world" which we got 20 years later.
JarJarBinks
Some actuals for smaller films are starting to come in: http://www.boxoffice.com/statistics/bo_numbers/actual_estimate/2013-12-16
grim22
I know CinemaScore is meaningless and polls the first day audience (basically die-hards) across 5 theater locations. But this was kinda shocking: While most reviews suggest Smaug is a step up from An Unexpected Journey, audiences didn't necessarily agree: they awarded the movie an "A-" CinemaScore, which is off from the first movie's "A" score. ecstasy
It's funny that Joseph Fiennes was in both Elizabeth and Shakespeare in Love as the love interest.

ecstasy
lmao, Joseph Fiennes. I remember that guy. Faded into obscurity. But he and Heather Graham had one of if not the hottest sex scenes I've ever seen in a feature film. Whoa!
