Or maybe Bo.Com isn't smoking something with that prediction and it's not tracking well.

There is literally no tracking data yet. Tracking data does not come out till 3 weeks before release. BO.com is making that prediction because "American Idol is no longer popular", seriously, that is half the reason they are saying 115M total domestic.  This is going to end up being one of their biggest misses for sure.

115m opening weekend would be a closer prediction than that.

Hopefully after this is another massive blockbuster for Illumination, people stop severely underestimating them at the B.O. with every release. It's getting tired and basically equivalent to predicting that the next Pixar film was only gonna do 100m back in 2004.

at least from bo.com Illumination films weren't as underestimated as Disney films.

Their long range forecast predictions for Disney films never exceeded $200M till Moana ($170M for Frozen, $180M for BH6 and Zoo)

but they predicted $300M for Minions, $265M for SLOP, and $350M for DM2.

I have to ask.

Is Sing going to be a one off Illumination-film like The Lorax or could it be like Despicable Me & Pets, where it could be a start for another animated franchise if it's a huge hit, depending on how much it does at the box office?

Well, making a sequel to The Lorax would be tacky. It even might be difficult, considering the Dr. Suess estate.
