The International Box Office Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

18 theaters closed this year so far. Our 2nd biggest TC is over. All of their theaters closed. 7 major cities have no theaters and people don't give a fuck. This is Portugal.

WTH? Do people in Portugal not like to go to the theaters, or they just dont care about movies?

insidekino.de have updated their "Top 2012 films" chart for 40 countries:

http://www.insidekino.de/BO/2012MAE.htm

note: some of the charts measure admissions ("Besucher") while others receipts in local currency. So, The Hobbit 1 was Germany's #4 admission-wise while it was #1 in Euro. Still a very nice overview.

I love that site, I think it allows especially bcs of their admission lists a lot of 'mind-games/calculating' I wouldn't know where else to get the numbers for.

Iran, Turkey, India, China, Japan and S.Korea are the only countries that local movie tops all.
