TFA probably earned enough today to become only the second film ever to pass $90m in Australia.

SW crosses 90 million, incredible.

Hateful Eight is actually having a somewhat decent run and could end up over 8 million.  That's the equivalent of about 80 in the US market, so not bad at all.

Why did Suffragette do so well in Australia?

I must say that hold by Star Wars is impressive given the holidays have ended.  if it can keep holding like that over the coming weeks is 95m possible after all... maybe even more ?

Biggest Film of All Time - Showdown

After 7 Weekends of play, Star Wars The Force Awakens crested the 90m mark, taking about 1 day longer than Avatar took.  Avatar finally caught up and passed Star Wars as expected but it did take 7 weeks to reach this point.  Of course Avatar was on a very different trajectory to over 110m while Star Wars will likely end below 95m (though it's a good chance if holds on well in the coming weekends to reach 95m.).  Either way though, the Star Wars result is stunning.  Especially when you consider that Star Wars is only the 2nd film to ever pass 60m in a single run.  In passing those totals Star Wars of course set the fastest to 10m, 20m, 30m, 40m, 50m, 60m, 70m, 80m but Avatar will hold onto the fastest to 90m and will remain the only film in Australian Box Office history to pass 100m.

16 hours ago, Baumer said:

Why did Suffragette do so well in Australia?

It opened at Christmas and just did nice business over the holidays. It did just as well in New Zealand. These type of British films general do well here. I wonder what the USA/Canada split was for it.

Biggest Film of All Time - Showdown

Now that the holidays are done, Star Wars as expected is beginning to wind down.  Still it's had a magnificent run.  Up to nearly 92m to date and should have enough legs to wind up just under or near to 94m which is just amazing.  To put this in context, In admissions, Star Wars The Force Awakens is now 8th all time pushing past Grease and the first Lord or the Rings films, but most importantly, surpassing Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom to be become the 2nd biggest adjusted Star Wars in Australia behind only the original film.  In fact the only films to have sold more tickets in Australia are The Sound of Music, E.T., Star Wars, Avatar, Titanic, Crocodile Dundee and Gone with the Wind.  which is pretty heady company to be in.  Of course only Avatar has both the actual and adjusted grosses above the force awakens.  No matter how you look at it, this performance is amazing.  The question now comes what film will be the next film to push past the invisible barrier that Titanic has put over the box office over the years meaning only Avatar and now the Force Awakens are the only films to gross more..... (it seems to be a thing that either the film will smash past the barrier or simply run out of steam before it reaches it.....)

anyway here is the updated weekly chart...

That's about $3-3.2m opening day for Deadpool. Looking at $12-14m for the weekend. This a regular weekend here. School is back and there's no holidays.

That at equates to at least $90-100m for a regular 3 day Domestic.

50SOG IM would put it over 12m.

Edit: I see, you corrected yourself. Yepp, 12-14m looks fine. This is absolutely huge.
