He's an artist?  lol.  Yea, I'm sure thats why they fund his films....for arts sake.  Hollywood is a business.

He's an artist, and he has a fanbase that likes his art. Considering how a movie about two kids falling in love in the 1960s can make $45m, clearly there's at least some audience for his films.

Why would you even compare those two together?

They got Anderson in the name.

Time to throw Paul W.S. Anderson into the ring

Yeah, two America born Anderson who dont really make mainstream Hollywood movies.

You dont say, even Paul W.S. Anderson can make better movies than Wes Anderson ..;)

David Lynch and Jarmusch are artists among fellow American directors. WA is not.

Definition of an artist from online,

[*]creator of art: somebody who creates art, especially paintings or sculptures

[*]performer: a member of the performing arts

[*]skilled person: somebody who does something skillfully and creatively

He is most certainly an artist, because his movies are unique and somewhat quirky, he's very creative.

If RoE behaves like Watchmen,

17.705 + 13.278(-25%) + 8.896(-33%) = 39.879

Don't think it will happen though

If that Friday inclues midnight numbers, I doubt that's going to happen. What you mean is that, basically, a normal Friday, without midnight numbers, would still be higher than it's Saturday? Highly impossible.

Also, I went to see Non-Stop today... a 1:30 PM and the theater was filled with people wanting to watch 300. Trust me, I wouldn't under estimate this just now. I say it might surprise with a 47-48M OW.

I disagree. I would include Wes Anderson in that bunch too.

You could dislike or hate his work, you can call it pretentious, and even artificial and unsubstantial, but he clearly has a storytelling and visual trademark, you watch 5 seconds of one of his films and immediately know that is a Wes Anderson film.

Does that make Michael Bay an artist ?

When it comes to creating good action movies, yes? It's his fault that his scripts suck... Not so much. So, basically yes, he could be called skillful when it comes to action scenes, explosions and stuff, therefore he can be considered an artist.

I thought you could think for yourself.

Michael Bay is not an artist in my world... Skillful? yes. Creative? no.Having said that, i don't hate Michael Bay, i watch his films for entertainment purposes only, not to left me thinking about anything, and he mostly succeed at that.

Almost certainly. What Bay does takes skill and effort. It's not something that can easily be replicated. There is a unique and notable aesthetic to it. In fact, it's probably likely that nobody could do what Bay does the way he does it. Filmmakers study how he constructs action for a reason.
