THE MARTIAN | Oct 2, 2015 | Will compete as a comedy at the Golden Globes

I liked

The running gag about him being pissed off about the commander's choice in music and television

and

The "boobs" joke

All his inner monologues are gold. I hated when they cut away from Watney. Hopefully the movie gives the supporting cast more to do than the book did.

Trailer is bad. Premise is good. Cast is amazing. But Ridley...

You mean you don't get slightly choked up when Chastain-Howard utters: "Let's go get our boy!"

It's strange how this universe works. This summer, the other Chastain-Howard stars in a movie where she needs to get

2 boys back to safety.

The thing about bestselling books is that you never know if they will take off and be huge, or they will only attract book readers and end up flopping.

Look at all the flop YA novel over the years. So many potential franchise starters going down in flames trying to be the next Twilight.

Yes the character in the book is Indian.

That said, while his film character has the same name, just imagine he's Half-Indian, Half-African American.

Even though the character is Indian in the book it reads like a character he's played in the past

Gone Girl had Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike and David Fincher so I assume just from Fincher and Affleck alone, it would attract a crowd who may have not read the book. The Martian has a lot of big talent behind it and the premise lends itself to a film.

You know SJW would have gone apeshit if an Indian character had been replaced by a white actor. :P

They were surprisingly mute for STID though. At least with Montalban he looked ethnic and not pasty white ghost
