The tone of the marketing for this has been so confused. The first made it look like a creeping, slow burn war thriller like the first hour of Godzilla. The second trailer made it look like a full on action comedy. And the third one made it look like a B-movie monsters vs. monsters creature feature. I have no idea what to expect.

kong is gonna bomb, at my amc in Manhattan, the amc flagship, kong has only sold 30 seats for the 7pm show even though presale tickets have been out for almost 2 weeks, 

 

in 24 hours since launching presale tickets, power rangers has already sold 25 presale tickets for it's 7pm show

 

beauty and the beast 7pm show is sold out, it's 10pm show has sold 127 tickets

Complete anecdotal evidence.  Especially given that Kong is more walkup driven than Power Rangers, as Kong targets a much older audience.
