so it's some random b-movie that paramount decided to throw a known ip at just so they could make some coin off it? should be great.

this never was a low budget b-movie, the secrecy of the movie and the IMAX release tells you something.

So just gonna ignore all the actual information about its production that's being posted, huh?

There wasn't any secrecy. Just look up Valencia Trachtenberg Winstead etc. Only secrecy there was is the Cloverfield renaming.

So they definitively hiding a lot of stuff and there are scenes to justify the IMAX. Basically they showed us only a teaser there containing only a small part of the movie.

Can we be sure of IMDB information though ? Never understood how this site worked, who updates it ?

That info is wrong. The budget is 5M.

The story was easily adaptable, even more if the movie was actually unfinished. Just throw some scenes with the monster near the end to justify the IMAX and there it is, you have a Cloverfield movie. The rest of the movie could stay the same, just change the end to have a monster destroy the place where they are hiding.

Maybe if it does good numbers we get a real sequel to Cloverfield.

When did they put it in March? That is a good release date for a shit movie. I bet they put it there in the moment they decided it was gonna be a Cloverfield movie.

This looks like a $5m movie. Not saying it's a bad thing, but it seems to mostly take place in one area and has no stars. If it is a $100m movie, than either, we haven't seen anything yet, or John Goodman is getting dat Robert Downey Jr. $$$.

It is a 5M movie  Not sure why IMDb put that there.

It's actually a $500m movie. TFA was just a ruse by JJ to keep us off the scent of the biggest film ever.

It won't surprise me if they increased the budget with the reshoots in March to something like 15-20M. They had to add scenes to justify the IMAX release.

Are you secretly a member of the production? you seem too sure about the movie budget.;)

Have you seen the trailer? This is not a 100M movie.

I can see they increasing the budget to around 15M when they decided to make it a Cloverfield movie and change the ending to have some IMAX money shots.

Now that is more pausable.

A 90 minute small budget thriller about Goodman and MEW holed up in a bunker with a random 10M scene of a monster at the end sounds hilarious, so I hope that's what they've made here

Skimmed through the 'original' THE CELLAR script from the Hit List. Spoilers follow:

Spoiler

So the main conflict in the script was - is the 'apocalypse' all bullshit that Goodman made up to abduct MEW or not. Turns out it wasn't - that's the ending 'reveal', MEW driving in a hazmat towards Chicago to then see the ruins of the city.

Now they're shoehorning Cloverfield in and......oh boy do I think it will be a mess as that main mystery of the story is gone, that being said the connection is easy as you can make the city NY and the attack that caused the destruction the Cloverfield attack but since we already know it's Cloverfield that ruins it.

The non-spoiler version - this is a pretty cool original sci-fi-ish concept that the Cloverfield shoehorning could potentially ruin.
