MonstersandRoy
Hobbit number looks pretty good to me. 9% increase. The most comparable day & date Middle Earth movie is Return of the King, which decreased 9.6% on the same Tuesday, so an 18/19% positive swing for BotFA. Also had a better drop on the Monday than that film, so doesn't appear to be following the same arc (though that film had a boost around the awards season). Last year Tuesday on the same week had massive increases: http://boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/?sortdate=2014-01-07&track=frozen2013.htm So same day last year had 7 over $1m titles, this year only 3 titles gained 7 digits. Maybe bcs the rather strong Christmas weeks (in relation to the year 2014) managed to 'fill up' the movie / family outing needs? Or less interesting titles this year / already longer running? Curious to see January final numbers comparisons
