CoolioD1
Yeah, much like the oscars go for "most" instead of best sag can sometimes lazily go for whichever oscar contenders have the most good actors in them and the martian has a lot.

That, and there's usually a populist surprise in the SAG nominations (Bridesmaids and The Butler showed up a few years ago) - I wouldn't be surprised if Compton pulled a Dallas Buyers Club, actually. It has a 53%, so it is out on best picture-unless if it somehow does a Loud and Close. (Oddly when I scrolled over the title it said it had a 59%) Doesn't matter, it's officially out of the race with those reviews. Getting nommed would be statistically very hard with that kind of critical reception. Winning impossible.

Kalo
15 hours ago, ThatOneGuy said: Ok...I know everyone will throw backlash at me for this, but here it goes... David O. Russell makes The Fighter, a film made by Paramount. It gets excellent reviews. He then makes Silver Linings Playbook, which was made by Weinstein. It gets excellent reviews. Soon after, he makes American Hustle, a film made by Columbia. More great reviews. He then makes Joy, a film made by Fox. It gets mixed reviews. Fox messed up Fantastic Four. Two very different films, but both released by Fox in the same year. Also noticeable: A PG-13 rather than the standard R-rated Russell flick. ...Dammit Fox... I don't know about that. Fox had more "fresh" films in 2014 than any other studio. they also had Kingsman and The Martian this year.

I'm sure Fox knew the critical reception will be mixed. They should've wait one more (or two) week. The RT score can climb back to low 70s, but now it's a disappointment because where it started. The Panda
I'm feeling better about my Big Short predictions. If McKay can grab a DGA nom, it has a good shot to give Spotlight a run for its money. It's a movie about an incredibly relevant issue (especially in campaign season), high profile cast, and the competition is pretty weak this year. As of right now, Id say it's between Spotlight and the Big Short.
