Recommended Posts

Deadline:

France chalked up $5.2M making it the biggest opening day ever in December, more than doubling the firsts day of Avengers and almost double the first day of Jurassic World.  Italy at $2M is the biggest opening single day in December and for a Star Wars opening, nearly twice what The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies did on its first day. Sweden’s $1.7M and Norway’s $1.1M are the biggest industry single days ever for any film as well as first day. Other all-time opening day records were hit in Belgium ($800K), Finland ($600K), Netherlands ($800K) and French-speaking Switzerland. Denmark’s $1M reps the biggest opening day for any Disney film as well as the B.O. made in South Africa (unreported by Disney). And of course, all these figures are the biggest opening day for any Star Wars film ever. Disney also reports that Imax is rallying with record opening days in several markets.

Today, 32 more markets open including Germany, UK, Russia, Australia, Korea, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.  Japan and Spain debut tomorrow. Those not playingForce Awakens this weekend include China, India and Greece.

Very bad timing for SW7 in Argentina : today Argentina's new president decided to put zn end to the currency controls that were killing the economy.

As a result the Argentinean Peso lost 30% of its value against the USD TODAY  In USD the market will plunge.

Impressive breaking the OD record here in Sweden. DH2 both had midnights and the fact that it was in the middle of the summer. Though, I suspect Star Wars had far more screens, never seen anything close to it.

Nothing is wrong, did you ever heard of something called Exchange Rate? How did the Swedish Krone evolve between DH2 and SW7?
