Robertron Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 60m is done. 70m is now a possibility. That Fandango report makes you think anything is possible. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Vanilla Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 So the line I thought was for the Kingsman early screening was actually for American Sniper. My god We sold out the first 2 showing today at my location. It was raining tho. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Spidey Freak Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 maybe not for long. I still think it's ridiculous to consider AS as a 2014 flick. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
riczhang Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 I still think it's ridiculous to consider AS as a 2014 flick. But by that logic we also can't consider MJ1 the top grossing movie of 2014 because its 2014 only gross didn't actually top GOTG. 9 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Be serious for a moment. American Sniper is a very extreme exemple by any measure regarding the year and gross issue. 99,8% of its gross will be made in 2015.That s a very rare thing. The movie only had 4 theaters for 6 days in 2014. Anyway, I dont particurly care, just pointing out that AS is an exception to the rule for so many reasons, this one included. It will probably beat MJ1 whatever ... Edited January 23, 2015 by The Futurist 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Ball Lightning Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Very impressive Thursday number. We're looking around $4.5m-$5m for its opening in Australia at the moment. So pretty good numbers down under! 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

spizzer Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 What would a hypothetical $70m weekend put it on track for? $400m? $450m? 60M -> 400 65M -> 450 70M -> 500 75M -> 550 ish. Say give or take 20M for each total 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Ball Lightning Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 If a 70M weekend puts it on track for #5 all time and top 50 adjusted... Just wow! I'm not even that keen for this film and this makes me excited! 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Gokai Red Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Hopefully, AS's amazing opening/run is a sign of things to come for 2015 in terms of record-breakers and high-grossers. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
The Stingray Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Didn't think an R-rated movie was capable of performing like this. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Moviedweeb Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 American Sniper's 2nd weekend is still going to shatter the previous January record (including the extended 4-day holiday). 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
TLK Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 60M -> 400 65M -> 450 70M -> 500 75M -> 550 ish. Say give or take 20M for each total I don't think it will get to 400 million with a 60 million weekend. 4.5 multiplier from this weekend will be difficult even for a juggernaut like AS.
