forg
I went to see "Jupiter" and saw KID AFTER KID taking photos from their parents with the SpongeBob poster. I don't think SpongeBob had EVER lost it's popularity with Kids. Sure some of the kids who grew up with it when they were younger are older now but I think the demo it hit worked well for it. This. As kids grow up, another generation of kids takes it place that loves Spongebob. My nephew is 6, he and his classmates love spongebob. It has staying power, no wonder it's been on the air for so long I read on another site before that Spongebob is still dominates in the 2-11 demo in the TV ratings plus it has a sizable 18-49 viewers as well (higher than some adult stuff on cable like the HBO & Showtime shows) Edited February 10, 2015 by forg

The Panda
Well, it's not like that's some major or impressive milestone. Just found it interesting people are more interested in seeing a 12 year old TV show on the big screen than a new, number 1 of the year by BOT list standards, Nolan space epic. DAJK
OMG I just saw this with friends who were all SB fans as little kids, and we laughed so hard; this movie was great!!! There were kids and parents laughing during the movie, then there was us laughing even harder! (Although I'm not that annoying teenager in the movies) Wasn't as great as the first movie in my opinion, but I felt like a kid again when watching this. And the 3D was good also!

Well, Interstellar certainly isn't as kid-friendly as SpongeBob
mahnamahna
Well, Interstellar certainly isn't as kid-friendly as SpongeBob Not only that, but SpongeBob 2 is shorter and more light-hearted. It makes sense more people would watch a 90 minute comedy than a 165 minute sci-fi drama with minimal action scenes.
