Apart from Furious 7 would you call any of them a blockbuster level breakout? They all did well, but not that well that they became the movie everyone was talking about.

No those were breakouts. None of you called Spongebob doing $160M, not even me. Same with Home. Yeveryone saw $70, not $170. Kingsman looked like youre typical 30/80 grosser, not a $130M one. And Furious 7 beat expectations by $100M. Thats good enough.

Not every movie has to breakout to $200M+ to be a success. Its a blockbuster breakout if it beats expectations with a nice gross.

So we have already had 3 films that have hit over 350m domestic this year when in all of 2014 there was none. Jurassic World this upcoming weekend has a lot of potential to break out as well. Still plenty of films which could hit over 300m yet to come.

Ins't American Sniper considered a 2014 movie?

Jurassic World and Minions can do 350M if they're lucky, Hunger Games will probably do 350M, and Star Wars is locked for 350M. Much stronger year at the high end than 2014.

You can't say it is impossible for them to do 350M.

Well if you're gonna mention those two then you have to mention Inside Out, Rogue Nation, and SPECTRE too because they all have just as good as a shot as those two

The most films over 300m in a year is 5. This year will probably break that.

American Sniper 350m

Fast Furious 7 350m

Age of Ultron 455m

Jurassic World

Specter

Minions

Mocking Jay

Star Wars

Will Star Wars hit 350 this year? I'm not sure, it has only 14 days.

AOU made 333M in it's first two weeks.

Minions, Spectre, and JW are all pretty iffy

I think Minions will have a wider appeal than Inside Out, and an easier time reaching 350m. Inside Out may do it too, but Minions is a lot more likely IMHO.

Rogue Nation, IDK, I don't see it. Think it will decrease from Ghost Protocol.

Spectre will also decrease from Skyfall.
