If 70 is spot on, then there's no way Universal won't report the OW record tomorrow morning. Sunday needs a -21.5% hold at that point and JW has the record.

I'm sorry, but if Rth is correct (and since it's 2 AM on the west coast, he probably is) then there's simply no way it doesn't get it. As someone just said, Universal will fudge it if they have to at this point.

Your only prayer is that Rth made a typo. Or Universal doesn't want to fudge for whatever reason.

Neither did The Avengers.

 

Hell, most films that get the OW record aren't really deserving. But they get there on populist appeal, not quality. So you get middle-of-the-road fare that isn't really challenging things.

 

Occasionally there's something that crosses over and you'll get a TDK (or original JP), but that's the exception, not the norm.
