So JW isn't going to top TA total gross.

Wrong.

But since you were the person who originally declared JW was "crumbling" on its second weekend, you're probably used to being wrong.

I agree that "if Minions had not opened, then IO would have made xyz" is not a legit argument.

Movies will always face competition. Who knows, if not for Minions maybe there would have been 2 65m openers scheduled this week or over 2 weeks, or some other competition. IO is pulling in adults too, and maybe Ted 2, MM and TG would not have under-performed. If Minions would have not opened means the supply is not matching the demand and studios are idiots.

- things always even out in the long run.

- most(99%) movies including TS3, etc. over the long run have faced a similar amount of competition as IO. Some movies face a lot in one week, for others it's more spread out.

Wrong.

The larger the drops in the first few weekends matter more than later in the run.

Minions already fading. Wom is toxic.

"Minions is fading. Wom is toxic," yelled the basement-dwelling creature, flapping its arms angrily. Heaving and puffing, the (yet-to-participate-in-sexual-intercourse) being boasted that he has talked to every child in the world, with under-12 years old calling it the "greatest embarrassment of human intelligence since the masses believed in religion!"

So anyone here seen this Baahubali? I just spent some time researching it and watching the trailers and I'm very intrigued. It basically looks like a Hindi LOTR crossed with Avatar. Had no idea they made such epic films over there.

It's the first mega budget Telugu movie. Haven't watched it yet due to work but am definitely planning to next week.

IO is pulling at least 18m this weekend. TS3 holds from here on out put it at 350m total.

JW is pulling 19. Avengers holds from here on out put it at 655m total.

And believe it or not, putting those multipliers together, IO and JW would EACH make 65m. Meaning they'll be together till the day they die.

Cue romantic music.

I would find it hilarious if IO made exactly the same amount of money JW did outside JW's record setting opening week.

Right now, JW holds a $10.8 million lead.

Huh??? Even if you subtract JW's OW, it's still 100m+ ahead of IO. Not really sure what you're trying to say.

EDIT: Nevermind, you said first week not weekend. But that's ridiculous to try to take the whole first week out of any summer blockbuster. Even IO goes down in gross nearly 50% to 150m if we take out the first week.

He means if at the end of their runs, you were to subtract the $296.2m first week from JW's final gross, and the difference were to come out equal to IO's total final gross.

In short, if they were to end up having made identical amounts of money from June 19th to the end of their runs. For example if JW were to end its run with $650m, and IO were to end its run with $353.8m.
