WrathOfHan

Weekend Estimates: Ant-Man 58.04 | Minions 50.24 | Trainwreck 30.24 | IO 11.66 | JW 11.36 (Page 88)

So IMAX could shorten Ant-Man's run in favor of Pixels. Why could it not do something similar when TG failed to deliver?

Genisys had a long contract signed previously. Ant-Man was a last minute addition similar to Pixels. It wasn't going to be on IMAX till 2 months ago, so no guaranteed 3 week run unlike other movies this year.

Everything except for its completely humdrum marketing campaign. They need to ramp it up if they want a breakout. There isn't a late summer breakout every year, not feeling it this time

Salvation is coming August 14

Also, I remember a lot of talk that JW wasn't going near TA or F7 WW, what happened to that exactly?

That was from BKB long long long ago. Like when JW was on 599m 3 days back.

Nextweekends drop will tell us where Minions is headed. It could see another 50% or so something stellar and drop 25-30%. To early to write it off, the 3rd weekend is always the best gauge, especially for a film with a fanbase.

Another 50%+... Ant-man already better received and eating into the family demo. Pixels will eat into said demo as well next weekend too.

We have had one every year since 2007 at least, maybe a pre-determined breakout or an out of nowhere one - Simpsons movie, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter, Inception, Harry Potter/Captain America, The Dark Knight Rises, The Conjuring, GOTG/TMNT. 2006 was the last completely dead July and August post POTC2.

Hopefully Pixels, MI:RN, FF, UNCLE/Compton all post 40M+ openings.
