Best Animated Feature 2011

Right now it looks like Rango is the only lock to be nominated. All the other contenders are hovering around the low 7s and any one of them could get left out.

I think 2011 is even worse than 2006, this year just makes me sad.

No, it's definitely better than 2006. Rango was awesome and I fully support it winning. And the other likely noms are certainly no slouches either.

I haven't seen any of this year's animated films. Usually I see 1 or 2. It's a weak year for them.Hope to see KFP2 on DVD soon. Couldn't find it in Red Box the other day though- has it been released yet?

Rango and Adventures of Tintin would be good nominees.KFP2 was nowhere near the original.Rio was insanely childish, Cars 2 was abysmal, Gnomeo, generic.Have still to see Puss and Arthur Christmas. Happy Feet 2 is a joke, won't even see it.edit: Forgot about Pooh.Nominees & chances of win1. Rango2. Tintin3. Arthur Christmas4. Winnie the Pooh5. Puss in Boots/indie filmsecond edit:Just to say that Toy Story 3, How to Train Your Dragon and Tangled were all above all these. Despicable Me and LOTG were better than everything either than Rango and Tintin.

Yea, the best part of Rango is the actual animation. Rio also had great animation and the story was great. So colorful.

Rio only had a better story than Rango for anyone under the age of 8. Rio was so annoying and childish, it had almost no originality, I'd be horrified if that won.

I'm honestly not sure if Tintin has much of a shot at all of winning right now. More than 50 reviews in and it's still pretty far behind Rango. At this rate even Arthur and Winnie would be favored over it.

You know what's amazing? Cars 2 has had like ZERO nominations.Of course Rango has been dominating but still mostly every other half-decent offering this year has got at least 1 nomination.edit: I lied, there's one for the Annies but aside from that even Happy Feet 2 and Rio have more nominations.

I hope that trend holds all the way to the Oscars. For both Pixar and AMPAS' sake, Cars 2 should not be nominated.

What's embarrassing is that there will be 5 nominees this year. That's nearly 30% of all animated releases domestically.The equivalent would be Best Picture having something like 70 nominees.

Well, to be fair, animated films on average are of higher quality than live action films. I remember there were a lot of people complaining that there weren't enough noms last year.This was just a down year for the medium; not much can be done about that. At least it's not as bad as 2006.
