It's hilarious that a film barely pulling in 8m is still in 4000+ theaters. 8.2m would be funny since that was the first estimate for F4's 1st Sat. Either way it looks as if F4 will not make as much on its 2nd weekend as it did on its 1st Saturday. Ugly.

EVERY theater is going to dump FF next Friday when they don't have to keep it on screens anymore. We are taking record dropping theater loss here!

Wow! That's a huge number for SOC. But I'm happy that we're ending summer with a bang after the last few weeks have been relatively boring (except F4's epic bombing of course).

Yes, I'm loving the box office story here.

I'm glad that SOC is doing what many of might've thought F4 would do, and F4 is doing what many of us thought SOC would do.

All hail Ice Cube.

I watched Friday last night cause I was feeling the hype.

Great movie.

8m+ is nowhere near the disastrous second weekend for F4 I thought would happen. Kind of boring and anti-climactic actually. Thought it would be a 75-80% drop or even worse.

Hammer needs to be a new addition to the prettyboy box office poison list alongside the likes of Kitsch and Reynolds. This is his 4th bomb in a row (J Edgar, Mirror Mirror, Lone Ranger, Uncle).

Controversial opinion: Lone Ranger is pretty good, even though it's half a disaster

Also you can hardly blame J Edgar on Hammer. Mirror Mirror was all Julia and Lone Ranger was all Depp.

Hammer isn't a deterrent I don't think, just a complete non-factor

Because the audience digs those superhero movies  (except F4 of course..)

The same audience seems to be eating up spy movies such as Mi5, Spy and Kingsman. I agree with Arachnid that there's more to whether a film fails or succeeds than just genre saturation. It has more to do with things such as appeal, awareness and popularity which Uncle lacks compared to other spy movies. I don't see Spectre failing later this year because of spy movie saturation

Very nice for SOC, glad I picked it in the BSG top 15. Good stuff for MI5, Cruise must be laughing beating on the third weekend the project he dropped. Decent late legs expected for MI5 as FF and Uncle will drop more theaters with a solid LD performance even 200m could be in play.

Why did F4 get 9 more theatres when it bombed so badly?

Few drive-ins and some other theatres, not everyone opens same week. In fact when you see theatre count  changes its the net effect X theatres finishing film Y theatres opening, say -100 doesn't actually mean 100 theatres finished it could be 120 finished and 20 opened
