...and the box office taketh away.

Last weekend was fun (plus, I finally got to see HT2, which I liked more than I expected too. IMO, its probably more aimed at the dads of little kids than it is at actual kids), and this weekend looks like it is not. The 33 looks it could have been punchy, but the mediocre reviews are going to make its life hard. For me, this weekend will probably mostly focus on figuring out how to stream Starz so I can watch Ash vs Evil Dead.

Please provide your 11.13 - 15 Opening Weekend predicts for:

The 33

Love the Coopers

My All American

Deadline is now going to be sometime between midnight Wednesday and Thursday midmorning (US Eastern time), depending on when I get to it.

Edit - They're having a small film festival in town so I took in a fair number of independent stuff, especially shorts. Probably the most entertaining thing I saw over the weekend was a short titled "Soccer Moms in Peril" which was not porn (despite Mrs Wrath's suspicions), and was hilarious. And the movie it led into "Night of the Living Deb" was also fun, plus it was set in Portland, ME. I spent a lot of time there when I was younger and recognized some of the filming locations.

Bombs away for all of these. Love the Coopers (I'm positive this title is missing a comma) looks like a Hallmark Christmas movie that managed to ensnare an overqualified cast (including four Oscar nominees/winners, a Golden Globe winner, and a host of other familiar faces who should be finding better things to do with their time).

I was legit shocked at some of the people who are in it when I looked it up earlier. Again, I seriously had not even heard of it until today. Same goes for All American or whatever. I don't even know how to predict these two. It is extremely rare for me not to have even heard of a wide release the week of said movie's release. At least the likes of Burnt, Scouts, Crisis, and Jem I had known of.

Well, if we had a fun weekend *every* time, we wouldn't appreciate them, now would we? No, we wouldn't. So lets view this weekend in the spirit in which the studios intended it: a quiet time to reflect on WWW with Spectre. Hah, no, I'm kidding, Spectre did fine. Just ask all the people playing Chasmmi's game. Heh heh heh.

On the bright side, it should be fun sailing through to the end of the year. Except that Krampus weekend, which I'm going to predict ends up setting our all-time low for predictions made (this weekend is merely 3rd, for comparison).

As usual, I went through the various predicts (13 for The 33 and Love the Coopers, and 12 for My All American) and, relative to the other sites, we're optimistic on basically everything (I'd joke "Like usual" but that hasn't really been the case the last few weeks. I haven't sat down and looked at the numbers, but I suspect our best weekends are when we're slightly pessimistic on everything), though I guess with Love the Coopers we're really more in the middle of the group albeit slightly on the high side. Here's what we ended up with:
