The Artist is the epitome of charming. It's also extremely simple, but uses that as an asset. In most years I wouldn't have been for it winning BP, but it had a pretty weak field that year so it didn't bother me.

I thought the Artist was amazing. There is that moment when its 3 takes in a row and in those 3 takes our leads fall in love with each other. Its the same shot 3 times but played 3 different ways, pure filmmaking if you ask me.

yeah, the artist is a cute experiment. it's a pretty niche thing. now it's seen as an undeserving pos. pure example of how like 60% of the time the oscar is worse for a movie's reputation than better.

Yeah, love that part too. The Artist is a movie that thrives on the little things. It for sure doesn't hit you over the head with greatness, it's much more subtle about it.

I've never been on the hate train for The Artist, but I can't say it's been a particularly memorable film.

The beginning and ending are the strong points. Kind of drifts aimlessly for awhile then finds its way again.
