Impact
Yes, though its more likely a vote split happens in song right then that happening! Then again it DOES say next to impossible scenarios for a reason!
Impact
I wonder when Hidden Figures will overtake La La Land. And what will be the lowest grossing nom this year-Hell over High Water, Moonlight or Lion? I'm saying either Moonlight or Water, Lion I could see getting a boost (even though I don't think it will win anything)
CoolioD1
i'd say moonlight. would be weird if it was hell or high water since everyone here was talking about it like it was a breakout indie smash when it was playing in the summer.
Impact
Just now, CoolioD1 said: i'd say moonlight. would be weird if it was hell or high water since everyone here was talking about it like it was a breakout indie smash when it was playing in the summer. I was thinking that too-considering I actually know quite a few people who saw it. (Then again it was filmed here-I live in the place where Lone Ranger was sold out, Magnificent Seven outsold tons of other films-ironically Django is one of the few westerns that didn't play well here-I know Hell Over High Water isn't quite a western, but just brining up a point) I can't see Moonlight making another 9 million. At least Lion I can see making more money. Now will Arrival hit 100 million? Maybe... (On another note-when should I do the Oscar wins game?) CoolioD1
whenever you feel like it i guess (though preferably before the oscars)
Impact
I was thinking of doing the game after the Oscars LMAO. What other films nominated for BP do you think will win anything? What will walk home empty handed?

BirdMan
It is highly unlikely that Denzel wins , can't see him pulling a Sean Penn this year
CoolioD1
"highly unlikely" is a little overboard considering the last time the sag winner for best actor didn't win the oscar was 13 years ago. it's at least 50/50.
Impact
The only person who would be highly unlikely for actor IMO (at the moment) would be Vigo, unless if there is something I don't know about the Oscar campaign for him. BirdMan
well , the last time a GG winner didn't get nominated for an oscar was 41 years ago but look what happened
filmlover
Chazelle won the DGA last night. Let's just crown the movie right now and get it over with. Better luck to everyone else next year.

SAG does though. Jim Carrey won best actor in a drama in 1998-we all remember how he won then...wait...(they actually said Roberto was who took his spot that year which is interesting since he won the Oscar)

SAG does though well , 41 years of consistency tells you something but then again these numbers are all meaningless since every year is an independent incident so using SAG or GG is not definitive since the matching percentage is not 100%
The Futurist
Kubo winning VFX wouldn't surprise me at this point.

filmlover
I feel like Actor is 50/50 between Denzel and Casey. No idea who is winning.
misafeco
I'm leaning toward Affleck because Fences has Supporting Actress locked.

Fences is the kind of movie that could easily take home two acting wins. In fact, it's possible that La La Land, Fences, and Moonlight might be the only Best Picture nominees to win anything on Oscar night, and it actually sounds plausible (since Hell or High Water/Hidden Figures/Lion are all guaranteed to win nothing, Arrival and Hacksaw Ridge only stand chances in tech categories that could easily be lost to a La La Land domination, and Manchester by the Sea's only possible wins are in Actor and Screenplay).
