Jake Gittes
If Shannon won this I'm sure it'd be my favorite moment of the upcoming ceremony no matter what else happened.
filmlover
They should've given Michael Shannon an honorary Oscar years ago for his dramatic reading of this iconic email:
Webslinger
Mahersherala Ali just has to get in for Moonlight, right? Right?

He has at least two scenes that could be his Oscar clip.
BirdMan
Liam Neeson based on what ?!?! who has seen silence except people who have worked on it ??? as a side note what about jake gyllenhaal for nocturnal animals ?

I saw Nocturnal Animals last night and I really don't think the movie is gonna be the Academy's cup of tea at all. I would doubt even my Michael Shannon prediction if this category wasn't so barren. Jake Gittes
If Neeson's part in Silence isn't an awards-magnet showcase this might come down to Ali vs Bridges. Really wish John Goodman would break into this race despite everything. His practically unavoidable snub is gonna look even worse considering how slim this category appears to be atm. I'd think he'd have a better shot if Patriots' Day had given him a juicier part (but apparently he's just one member of an ensemble so that's a wash). WrathOfHan
IDK if Ali will win if his role is as short as everyone says it is.

His role may be relatively brief but he absolutely nails his two big scenes.
Jake Gittes
Patricia Arquette just won for 16-17 minutes, I think? It's all about the impact. If it's less than 10 mins I guess that raises the chances for the competition.

filmlover
Ali exits Moonlight after the film is 1/3rd done. If he were to lose, it wouldn't be due to lack of screentime.
BirdMan
Mark Raylance was in like 3 scenes and he still got the oscar
