Maybe for adult films. Family audiences might still be out and about.

I was poking fun at the notion that any sporting event besides the Super Bowl has an effect on the box-office.

Wish we could have a little more for Zoo..:(

Um, that's a 91% increase. That's great for it! It will finish around 14 million for the weekend. That is down less than 30%. That is great for it! Also, it will very likely enter the list for top 10 6th weekends unadjusted. That is great for it!

6.05 + 10.6 + 6.35 (-40%) = 23m for bvs (-55%)

F7's Sat jumped from +35% to +55% after spring break.

BVS's last Sat was +49%. Same increase as F7 gives 77%.

And 10.6 is +75% :)

The bad news is that Friday should have been +135% instead of +122% if it were keeping pace with F7.

F7's Friday went from +129.2% to 185.4% after spring break.

BVS's last Friday was +94% and should have increased to +135% if it had kept pace with F7.

4th UPDATE, Sunday 12:30AM: When Universal executives wake up Sunday morning, they’ll likely have something to crow about: Melissa McCarthy’s The Boss appears to have elbowed Warner Bros. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice out of No. 1 after its two weekend hold, with respective industry projections for each title at $24.5M and $23.3M. Even though BvS made more than The Boss on Saturday, $10.6M to $10M, the McCarthy movie had the upper hand on Friday night with an extra $2M over BvS. Kudos to Uni distribution for choosing the right spot on the calendar for this R-rated female targeted comedy. They waited until BvS let out its air, then took advantage of the marketplace which lacks a solid fun draw for females. By the way, that was a similar tactic Warner Bros. took with Tammy, McCarthy’s first title directed by her husband Ben Falcone (FSS $21.6M). During the early part of July 2014, there wasn’t a R-rated flick for women, so Tammy fit the bill.  So much for a three weekend run at No. 1, Bruce and Clark. Similar to CinemaScore, ComScore’s PostTrak also spotted older women in the theater for The Boss with 59% female at 70% over 25.

I was poking fun at the notion that any sporting event besides the Super Bowl has an effect on the box-office.

Last year, apparently 5% of the U.S. population watched the Masters final round, with around 64% of them being in the 30-64 year old demos.

Even the NCAA Championship game from a few days back was only at 6% of U.S. pop. That audience skews a bit younger though.

The NBA Finals averaged 6.7% of the U.S. population.

The World Series last year was on par with the Masters at 5%.

The 2012 Olympics had an average U.S. viewership of 10.3% each day.

Only the Superbowl hit more than 15% of the national audience, at 37%. This is the only sporting event I can think of that could have a significant impact on the box office. Your point is on point. :D
