Central Intelligence is going to surpass The Boss as the biggest "original" (non-sequel, non-pre-existing property, non-brand-based) movie of the year so far. Kinda goes to show how sluggish things have been outside of said movies.

It's been that way for years TBH. 2 years ago Interstellar was the highest "original" film (before you say American Sniper it was based off a book). 5 years ago it was Bridesmaids. Neither of them were MASSIVE hits.

zootopia doesn't count because of "but it's disneeeey"? that seems dumb to me.

Nah, Filmlover probably just had a brain fart.

Spoiler

I think that happens a lot when you get past 40.

Why do Cars 3 and Toy Story 4 exist?

Ethan you really have to ask this? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$€€¥¥££.

I can understand TS4: TS3 is a massive hit. As long as Tom Hanks is still working, they will be making Toy Story movies until some Pixar execs says "Stop."

But Cars 2 was rather disappointing and not as well received by Pixar die hards as the others.

might as well call kevin hart's screamy comedy a brand too, shit.

Every joke in the first CI trailer was like:

Dwayne: "Let's do the thing!"

Kevin: "OMG Let's not!'

Dwayne: "We're doing the thing!"

Kevin: "AAAAAHHHHH"

Then Fat Robbie.

I'm not 40 yet, dum-dum.

You also didn't have a brain fart. You're just wrong. :P

Zootopia as a brand based movie? C'mon. Might as well say that Inception is a Warner Bros. brand based movie.

central intelligence looks poised to be the highest grossing june release where the rock's face was photoshopped on a fat dude's body from the director of dodgeball. what a sad state the industry is in.
