Holy Shit. Pets beat Trek on Tuesday. Flashing back to the Pets OW thread when many claimed it would drop off the map and end under 300M, that was a weird thread with meltdowns over a movie overperforming.

Amazing.

Wonder if PETS can do better than BAD MOMS this weekend and end at #3 behind SS and BOURNE.

With Pets's run so far, its Friday #s have been within 5% of the Tuesday number every week. A 3.5M Friday leading to a 11.5-12M weekend is looking very possible. 320M by Sunday is definitely on the cards.

SLOP still won't beat Star Trek this weekend; Trek will have better Friday and Saturday increases and maybe a better Sunday drop.

But what about the Thursday drop and loss of IMAX? That will hurt Trek way more than any other movie, just checking listings for theaters around me, and Trek is losing the most showtimes and screens this weekend, Pets is pretty much holding on to its screens and showtimes.

But Pets is only on one screen pretty much everywhere right now, I doubt it matters too much.

Happy to say I contributed to that Beyond number yesterday.  I hate I waited to see it so long, thought it was probably the funnest movie I've seen all summer.  It should be getting more love but I sadly think after the mediocre reception of the second people just didn't care.  Added to the fact that nothing this summer has really felt like a MUST SEE.  Still, I thought it was really great.

Also some huge holds for Lights Out.  That's going to be a huge hit for New Line.

Congrats to Pets for passing 300. A few here said it would have trouble hitting 300. A few also said wom wasn't good.

Those few were wrong.
