Bloody hell this thread has turned into the budget thread lol among many factor to a films budget and the recoup, product placement  can play huge part. Some films have had the prod budget (not inclu P&A) payed for or nearly payed for before the film opens if product placement and tax incentives are high or its at least a substantial contribution to it. I have posted about all this stuff before but there been plenty being said this weekend.

BvS was not a financial hit and neither will this be . When a studio spends a fortune in production costs and an even bigger one in marketing in movies that have the two most iconic superheroes or are trying to capture the GA by looking cool (and spending who knows how much in marketing) in the case of SS these bo results are not what the studio expects . If that was the case you wouldn't see so many shake ups , when it comes to the DCCU . The same thing was said about , how it was a financial success , MOS and yet we will , probably, never get a proper sequel for it .

Some of you close your eyes on what each movie represents . Both BvS and SS aren't profitable , from their bo run, and I doubt Warner financed these projects to earn a bit of money from home video sales .

Deadline and others have estimated that BvS will bring in at least 150M to WB in the long haul. SS will also be profitable. I think you're underestimating ancillaries. TV rights, Blu-Ray/HE, merchandising, etc can work out to over 100M.

lol @ all these people talking about Superman because having Superman himself talk wouldn't be interesting.

Caine's Alfred and Harris' Aunt May monologues might be a bit preachy and unnatural but they're dramatically earned. So many 'deep' monologues are being thrown out here in the hope that they'll stick but they're just words.

I'll watch the rest tomorrow.

Isn't it always funny how somehow despite all of this, 95% of films are never profitable according to studios which magically means lots of people don't get the royalties checks they should get.

But what does his father think of him?

His father, played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa will constantly scold him for not being a doctor/assassin.

Maybe the movie will spark up a bit but I'm legit a bit baffled that Eisenberg got all that crap thrown at him when he's the only person here with any life in him.

If there's one thing you can count on it's people complaining about the best parts of these movies

My two cents, something I've felt for a while, is that DC's films have very limited appeal to women. That's why the frontloading is so intense. I think it's just fanboys showing up. The negative reception is further fueling the drop-off of course. But toxic word of mouth isn't the only issue here.

From what I see around me, in general, these films dont draw in women like Marvel. Maybe there's some audience data to back this up? Because it's merely what I suspect, not fact-based.

Wonder Womam could be the key film to change things around in WB's favor, in that it could be both good and have bigger appeal among women, but it's looking kind of bleak.

IDK, I've heard more interest in Suicide Squad personally from women than from men honestly. Helps that Harley Quinn has been a popular character from her inception and this made her look really great in marketing. Along with a strong role for Viola Davis, SS is more female friendly than the typical superhero movie IMO. Wonder Woman should be bigger though.

(Note: I haven't read any statistics about the demographic of Suicide Squad's OW, just speaking from my intuition.)

I know, right? He is the only one alive during the whole thing.

Or why good agents press gross points! Although, it seems plausible that a lot of movies come in the black through home entertainment and licensing, and net points reflect that.
