Really surprised that Alex Hibbert or Ashton Sanders from Moonlight aren't here.

Yea, Julia Louis Dreyfus had actually agreed to do it but fell through at the last second. And Schumer was all set to cohost with Chris Rock. Both of those have to be back in the mix. Louis CK is apparently a favorite but as much as I'd love that I just don't see it happening. But honestly, this is easy. Both Kevin Hart and The Rock have lobbied for the job. They're both huge stars. We know they are friends that have good comedic chemistry. Just give them the cohosting job, if it works with their shooting schedule. Seems like a no brainer to do. They're the biggest stars in the running, they both actually want to do it, and we know they work together.

Honestly I am 90 percent sure it ends up being Kimmel. He works for ABC and apparently they were very impressed by him hosting the Emmys. I don't think he moves the needle, but he's a safe choice and that's who they will pick.

Actually, I remember that they approached JLD, but she wasn't interested.

I actually would love it if they got Chris Rock again. I could watch his "Goes to the Movies" skits year after year.

those nominations look pretty oscary beyond one or two things like lobster in best screenplay. though that movies been getting quite a few shoutouts in that category. i actually wonder if it can slip into the fifth spot there now that jackie looks very shaky.

The Witch in Production Design is exactly the kind of shout-out that would seem obvious if only more than a couple of people in the Academy had cared.

Go Foster and Gerwig. And yeah I thought The Lobster could dark horse it into the Screenplay category ever since I saw it, nice to see it might still happen.

When I saw Hell or High Water, I was impressed by all the performances, and I was puzzled when Ben Foster, even after the film came and went, wasn't speculated as much to get a nomination as Jeff Bridges. I believe both those actors deserve nominations, and I'm glad these awards people agree!

Moonlight wins Cinematography. La La Land runner up. That's my predict for Best Pic here for LA Critics, too.  Silence not falling in the top two hurts it - it screened for these guys for sure.
