It's not really that....it's just his attitude against blockbusters in general that cringes me a bit.

The fact that his low box office predictions only reflects his failing strategy.

Stop caring about people who are blasé, they're not worth it. Grumpy people only bring darkness to people's hearts :chaplin:

Lion King' 2020 will not be "live action".

The Disney press release doesn't use the words and for good reasons.

Technically, they could  do a carbon copy of the 1994 film pretty easily.

Really wonder what approach they will use on this movie, very difficult to find a new or innovative angle to sell a "new" version, not sure only CGI will suffice.

It is the crown jewel of the Disney catalog, it is sacred ground to millions of people around the world.

Re-doing it could be a double edged sword.

But if Disney does it right, then  sky is the limit because 90's nostalgia is like crack to GA : Jurassic World and now BatB'2017.

Its also difficult because there are no humans in this story. TJB had Mowgli but the rest of the movie was basically animation. TLK remake would then be 100% animation i cant imagine Disney shooting that in real locations. BatB broke out partially because of Emma Watson and the classic love story in the movie. I dont know a Lion King remake just seems like such bad idea for me and i dont mind the other live action disney remakes (except Alice. Screw that Movie :P)

It makes you wonder what Lion King is capable of... that should be even bigger that BatB.

The Disney treatment seems to be. Animated, musical, and then live-action. Both the BATB and Lion King musicals are very awesome!!! (The same can't be said for Aladdin and the Little Mermaid.)

Lol @ Please don't post pokemon porn.

At some point, we really should consider banning gifs in the big weekend threads (at least until Sunday).  We all know its all "thanks bait", hell I've been guilty of it a million times, but at some point it all just starts becoming spam.  Instead of talking about boxoffice, everyone's racing to imgur or tumbler to post a gif replying to another gif and so on.

Yeah, I'm getting old. Not as old as baumer or tele, but old enough.

So basically flat from OD. Unprecedented.

WW opening is gonna be somewhere between 350-400m.

Without France (big market for it you can be sure of it), Australia ands Japan...With them that would be 400-450m OW WW. :o

What's wrong with "princess" family entertainment? There's huge audience for that. If you think that abolishing Princess and enforcing Black Widow type of entertainment is going to re-program the audience, you are wrong. Different people like different things and won't stop liking different things.

There is a huge audience for racist propaganda, the Kardashians and cocaine; that don’t make those things right. I do believe there is a ton of wrong things with Disney’s princess crap, but like you said, different strokes for different folks. My dislike of it will not make it go away and it will not impede you from enjoying those stories.

One of the best things they could do is to use several of the musical numbers used in the Broadway production to make it different.
