Really depends on what you're looking for, but usually the most important takeaway for just a casual glance is the comp.  More on that in a bit.   But even that is highly dependent on a movie being either in a similar genre or having a similar pre-sale pattern as folks will buy tickets at different times during a pre-sale window thanks to a very long list of factors.   Add in that movies will have different promotional schedules during their pre-sales (review embargoes, TV ca

#1 The Meg 21.8%
#2 CR 13.6%
#3 M: I6 13.3%
#4 MM2 5.5%
#5 HT3 4.5%
I'm surprised that BlacKkKlansman didn't enter the Top 5 but it can't take much longer. Maybe with the next update.

Pulse – always 5 minutes of counting:

The Meg: 159 and the second time 142 tickets sold. Comparisons: Skyscraper 56 tickets sold, Sicario2 57, The Equalizer2 121, M: I6 averaged 250 (all movies same day and daytime as now The Meg).
BK: 43 and 49
SM: 35 and 27 – slightly improving

I'll have comps after the late shows, both of which have already sold a bit. Looking at Disney Springs, The Meg is completely sold out for the regular show, and the Dolby show is pretty full as well. Slender Man and Klansman are doing solid as well; the former is outselling the latter fwiw

Any other comps would be waaaaaaay out of proportion because they released while school was going on here. This is looking pretty fucking massive, and now I really regret not doing Friday numbers for Skyscraper lmao

 

Slender Man:

 

33% of A Quiet Place (16.6M)

40% of Happy Death Day (10.4M)

45% of Insidious 4 (13.3M)

50% of Jigsaw (8.2M)

55% of Truth or Dare (10.3M)

215% of Hereditary (29.2M)

 

The lower comps feel pretty good to me. Slender Man has enough of a fanbase of younger teens and kids that will rush out and see it with little appeal to anyone else.

A Quiet Place: 1.29M

Jigsaw: 0.96M

Happy Death Day: 0.7M

insidious 4: 1.39M

Truth or Dare: 0.6M

Hereditary: 1.35M

 

Not super conclusive due to seasonal differences

Getting comps for the new releases is hard. That said, Slender Man's morning show in half an hour being empty isn't the most encouraging sign even as a younger skewing horror film. That performance is in line with something like Strangers 2 and Winchester earlier this year (also not the best comps because of the release date)

will that be a put-off for the % of ticket buyers waiting in line and selecting first choice?

Meg will probably be looking at O/U 20.  Rampage was 20.1
