One more seat sold than last week.  Meh, pretty much variance then.  Nothing to see here, one way or the other.

The way things are going I am not even sure if AQP2 will open. Why release if domestic BO is also a dumpster fire. I feel NYC BO is seriously affected looking at how weak Onward was in that area and Gitiesh's comment about the crowd at twitter.

Its gonna to get exponentially worse. This does not grow linearly. AQP still has another 10 days so just do the math of state of US BO at that point.

you see movies making small BO being less affected as they fill only few seats per show and so audience would be more inclined to see them. Openers which could potentially sell out shows(especially in big cities) would deter audience and will face bigger brunt. This is as of now. In 10 days it would be bad across the board.

I hope I am wrong.

The biggest question mark will be "Mulan".  "Mulan" is a huge film, and (according to ispot.tv) "Mulan" has already aired more TV commercials than "The Gentlemen", and it would cost Disney a lot of money if they delay the release date of "Mulan".

China locked down the country and Korea is tackling it head on and here the solution is to bury the head in the sand. So I dont have any hope of domestic situation resembling either.

You bet. The contracts Disney signed with the theater for Mulan has steep penalities if Disney does not open the film on the stated date. That is standard in any contract:one side does not fufill the contract they get hit with steep penalaties.

Disney is probably running the numbers now.

A complete stock market collapse is certainly not helping to ease fears.

It's a vicious cycle at the moment in North America. More cases, more deaths, more stock selloffs.

And Italy just put the entire country on lockdown, mirroring what China had to do, and up-ing the anti that other governments will eventually have to follow suit if there is any hope of containing at this point.

I would not be surprised by theatre shutdowns in certain US states by the time Mulan comes out.

I mean, if audiences are avoiding them anyways, why pay staff to keep them open with limited numbers of patrons attending...

It's certainly evolving day by day at this point, so anything can happen really....

We are in unknown territory here ,folks.

But studiios don't only have the short term effects of the virus to worry about  but the long term effects of a recession, which seems to inevitable now.

Economist were expecting a recession sometime over the next couple of years (we are overdue for one) but I think it is going to happen before the summer is over.
