Really depends on what you're looking for, but usually the most important takeaway for just a casual glance is the comp.  More on that in a bit.   But even that is highly dependent on a movie being either in a similar genre or having a similar pre-sale pattern as folks will buy tickets at different times during a pre-sale window thanks to a very long list of factors.   Add in that movies will have different promotional schedules during their pre-sales (review embargoes, TV ca

MT update:

#1 The Nun 57.2%
#2 CRA 9.6%
#3 Peppermint 7.7% (Mile 22 had 5.5% at the same time)
#4 M: I6 2%
#5 Operation Finale 1.9%

And Pulse at the moment:

236/5 minutes for The Nun. M: I6 had 291 a few hours later.
75/5 minutes for Peppermint. Comparisons could be Mile 22 with 53 sold tickets and The Equalizer 2 with 138 both same day and daytime. I heard there are (maybe?) some little controverses around this film (Mexican cartel involved, some moan that a woman „replaces“ a man...) so that could have some influence but so far it seems to be well liked at least by its audience. RT Audience Score is 90% and 4.4/5 and at imdb the most votes besides the probably irregular 10/10 and 1/10 votes are 6 or 7/10.

That’s solid for The Predator since it’s been having decent presales for the past week as well. $30M+ isn’t off the table but not 100% sold on that yet since it is a franchise. 

 

Im still thinking high teens for A Simple Favor with a chance at $20M so hopefully presales for it can stay solid and result in a decent opening.

 

In regards to White Boy Rick? Im still laughing at the guy on Twitter who told me that it would out open A Simple Favor because he hasn’t seen any promo for the latter and something about his 17 years tracking box office.....
