Okay so Wonder Woman is $26M behind GOTG2's pace.  It started out $43M behind so it's now shaved off $17M.  About $6M in it's 3rd weekend. Still going strong during the week. Guardians had a 40% drop over the true holiday and then 53% the following weekend.  I don't think WW will catch it but it will be pretty close which nobody expected.

The fact that it's outgrossing BvS and Suicide Squad is enough of an achievement for me.

It should take out DEADPOOL too, unless it completely collapses.

Yeah but there's just something a little poetic about Wonder Woman passing BvS (although I felt the same when BvS couldn't past Deadpool).

Maybe I just haven't been keeping up with Venom enough but how does the movie even happen without Spider-Man and the black suit and all that?  I guess they are changing the origin? I don't know, I will give it a chance but it sounds like a surefire mess.

I wonder if both Black Panther and Wonder Woman do $350M+, what will Captain Marvel and Cyborg do box office wise.

Isn't cyborg gonna be in The Flash movie instead of a solo one?

I have said this before, but I think it merits repeating. There are only 4 types of movies that can make money right now (especially in the North American box-office)

1) Family films (Beauty & the Beast, Finding Dory, Inside Out, Minions, Pets etc etc)

2) Comic-Book-inspired films (MCU, DCEU, Deadpool etc etc)

3) Star Wars films (one per year)

4) Cleverly marketed, gimmicky, small-budget horror-films.

I think the Potter universe is still a pretty big deal also.  Fast and Furious seems to have peaked in the states but overseas it's still a juggernaut.  Pirates is dead in the states. Transformers we will see.

Wonder Woman is an american centric, irrational phenomenon.

In the land of free, people have convinced themselves the movie is the second coming.

Outside of the US o A, the movie was met with a polite : "I guess that was ok/good."

Isn't it strange this jarring difference ?

First Avenger > Wonder Woman btw.

Not that hard to be honest.

Wonder Woman = American centric phenomenon

Captain America = Most American superhero imaginable

USA convinces themselves WW is the 2nd coming, somehow over the First Avenger
