I am the one that you can rely on, when all seems to go southbound,

and all that you think was left behind, I guarantee will be found.

Enter the world of A Tale for the Imperfect.

Spoiler

Kayla Navarro-Johnson seemingly has the perfect life. Living with her loving, quirky husband in Cincinatti, OH, she has a job she likes, financial stability, and seemingly everything she could ask for. Yet, something doesn't quite feel like enough. The problem isn't that Kayla isn't grateful. It's that she feels like an imposter in her own world, worried that it may snap at any time.

Things soon turn bad when her husband, Stephan, has an injury at his job, while Kayla's career at a start-up is destroyed when the company's president terminates the start-up. Kayla and Stephan promise to stay together and make this work, eventually taking a job at Kayla's hometown in suburban Michigan.

Things aren't perfect, but they are able to build up their lives again..

However, things aren't quite what they seem, and the journey of their lives is about to begin.

Thus begins A Tale for the Imperfect, a new fantasy drama written and directed by David Lowery (A Ghost Story, Pete's Dragon), telling a little big tale of reconciling with the darkness of life and not letting anyone define yourself. Tika Sumpter (Food Wars, The Old Man and the Gun) and Oscar Isaac (O, Maestro!, Annihilation) will play the roles of Kayla and Stephan respectively, both of whom will have leading roles in the film. Daniel Hart, Lowery's frequent collaborator, will also return as the film's composer.

Tika Sumpter and Oscar Isaac will play leading roles in the film, written and directed by David Lowery.

Additionally joining the cast is Danny Glover as Kayla's father, Sandra Oh as a mutual friend of the couple in Cincinnati, and Gavin Creel as an employer in their hometown. While the cast seems pretty normal so far, we'd like to mention the fantastical aspect of the film, one that will tie it into something bigger, something far more universal.

Let us ask you a question. Have you ever wondered about the parts of your mind that slowly fade away? Ideas that get rejected, thrown to the wayside?

These ideas do not disappear. Everything we leave behind manifests in the form of a Deminded, a mysterious entity seemingly made of forgotten and useless objects (like paper, bottle caps, tape, etc. - a bit like My Peoples) that might one day find itself complete yet again. They wander the world, hidden from sight, and they have never encountered a human before directly. They only know that each one represents the mind of someone in particular, and even they do not know who.

Soon, one Deminded, a small debonair fellow made of found scraps and pencil markings, finds its way to Kayla, (without his own name, Kayla names him Cappy), he has a desperate favor to ask of Kayla. But why her of all people? What is this world, and where will it lead Kayla and Stephan? What about their own demindeds? As Kayla uncovers this secret world around her hometown, the illusions of her life begin to shatter and call into question everything about her past, present, and future. Through a journey of heartbreak and despair yet wonder and home, can she come out stronger than she had ever been before?

--

Zachary Levi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Tony Hale, and Zazie Beetz will voice various Deminded characters, while, in one of his final roles in retirement, Robert Redford (The Sting, Avengers: Endgame) will play a mysterious human who seems to know a great deal about the Deminded, seemingly having a mythical, no, cosmic mindscape.

Described as a spiritual successor to Notes from the Otherspace, the film here takes on an existential, artistic exploration of its themes, drawn from several forms of storytelling from the Spielbergian style to a more subtle, expressionist tone, while helping audiences connect to the story on screen and invite them to grow with these characters.

Michelle Haywood remarks that "it's one of the most thematically and artisitcally ambitious projects that we've done to date, and we're still not fully clear on all of the details. Either way, it's one of the most exciting projects I think we have in our arsenal. And I can't wait for all of you to see it."

A Tale for the Imperfect arrives in cinemas at Christmas Y7.

Infinite Studios has bought and greenlighting a very controversial Jordan Peele project tentatively titled “Eyes” with Michael B. Jordan as it’s main lead. Endless Entertainment CEO, Xavier B Irving is planning on writing the project with Peele. The plot for Eyes is very unknown but it is said to tackle the abuse of power of celebrities in Hollywood for disgusting actions such as Harvey Weinstein and race relations. The film unlike Us, Get Out or the still upcoming Smells Like School Spirit, won’t contain horror or thriller but rather a full out drama. Irving says he was really inspired by “By The Balls”, particularly the ending saying that although that it isn’t a thriller, the haunting aura will be felt.

The project will arrive Y6 and is reportedly part of the Big 4 for Endless Entertainment/Infinite Studios next to Super Mario Bros and two other undisclosed films.

It is reported from both Jordan Peele and Eastmond, that due to the success of Thirsty, Infinite is moving forward with Eyes for Y7. An official plot has been revealed; “Monty Jones (Michael B Jordan), is a hardworking, persuasive and charmer young lawyer, as he comes across his biggest case yet, defending a young woman against famous celebrity and one of the biggest faces in the black entertainment game, Big Squirtrr (Will Smith). However upon review evidence, Monty finds a shocking and dark conspiracy that has been controlling the black entertainment industry for millennia.”

An in-depth look at

The New Age

In a valley secluded from the dangers of the outside world, a union between the Panthera and the Felinae has existed for many generations. The Panthera, big and strong, have made a pledge to protect the small and weak Felinae from harm's way, and when times get tough, for all cats to band together in unity rather than division.

But not all cats are born equal, for though fewer in numbers the Panthera rule through raw strength.

Tensions between species have been everlasting, and as the era of one ruler comes to an end and a battle for the throne awaits, the future of the valley and the lives of many that inhabit it lies at stake.

Whoever wins, a new age will surely dawn.

Panthera: The New Age is a photorealistic animated fantasy adventure film with a large cast of colorful and unique characters in all sizes, whiskers, and furs. The film began pre-production as a different project titled Mako and the Island of Cats, but as the cast and the film's ambition grew the decision was made at Cookie Pictures to split the project in two, with Panthera serving as the entry point for a potential new franchise for the studio.

Directed by animators Shane Acker ("9") and Rosana Sullivan (the Pixar short "Kitbull"), Panthera is a story about a society in upheaval, where power and the struggle for it lies only in the paws of a few, and where the choice for the common cat lies between the better or worse of two evils. Survival lies in working together and breaking barriers that exist within species, protecting those dear to you as well as being able to stand up for yourself in a world that does everything in its power to push you down.

Today, Cookie Pictures has provided Cayom Magazine with an updated voice cast as well as some new details regarding the $180 million production, aiming for a July release in Y7.

Zuri, Tai, Maya, Amir, Mutt & Janji

Zuri (Shahadi Wright Joseph) - Zuri is a Bombay Cat who'd lost her parents at a young age and was adopted by the Uncia family. She's curious and playful, if easily frightened. She wishes to be braver, but being so small compared to her surroundings makes that a difficult task. Despite not being part of the Panthera most other Felinae treat her as such, and so she often finds herself alone on the playground.

Tai (Timothée Chalamet) - Tai is a snow leopard and the only son of the Uncia family. He is the step-brother of Zuri and Maya's biological twin, and is braver and more headstrong than either of them, often to a fault. Tai thinks he has everything in the world figured out and often chastises his father Amir for his apparent cowardice when it comes to standing up to the other Panthera. With him and his twin sister coming of age, Tai decides he should step up where his father cannot.

Maya (Nathalie Emmanuel) - Tai's twin sister and Zuri's step-sister. Maya is more simpleminded than either of her siblings, and only wants for everyone around her to be nice and happy. She loves playing as much as Zuri does, but often gets into sticky situations by being easily distracted. As both she and her twin brother come of age, the issue of her fertility comes into play, and she becomes sought after by the valley's many bachelors.

Amir (Mark Strong) - Father of Tai and Maya and adoptive parent of Zuri, Amir is the patriarch of the Uncia family. Due to the Uncia only being accepted into the Panthera clan in recent years, Amir's worst fear besides his family's safety is losing the position they've earned, and so he's let himself become a major pushover, letting all other big cats basically walk over him with him rarely any objection, much to his son's chagrin.

Mutt (Bex Taylor-Klaus) - Mutt is a bobcat who lives on the outskirts of the valley, digging around in the Panthera's leftovers and generally keeping to herself. She's the only Felinae willing to be Zuri's friend, but not for the reasons Zuri might think. Mutt has an ability to get into quarrels with other cats, however, usually when they either try to bully her or when they think her disheveled lifestyle makes her disgusting to be around.

Janji (Ben Kingsley) - Janji is a white Bengal tiger and the current ruler of the valley at the start of the film. He is as wise as he is strong, serving as a parental figure to Zuri where Amir falls short — but his attempts to bridge the gaps between Panthera and the Felinae by offering kindness and standing up for the voiceless, while making him popular among Felinae to the point many dub him "Uncle Janji", has soured his image among most other Panthera, who prefer brute strength and intimidation to keep the Felinae at bay. Janji realises he will not be able to make peace between the two clans before the sun sets on his era, and so it is up to whoever takes the throne after him to either achieve peace or tear it all down.

Doa, Stripes, Bodi, Rufus, Volkow & Yuri

Doa (Keiynan Lonsdale) - Doa is a cheetah who's part of a long family line tasked with keeping watch over any potential threats entering the valley. He often sits on the tall hills in the distance with watchful eyes on the horizon, and so often finds himself isolated from the other cats, with the exception of Tai who is his best and only friend. Despite that being a watchful guardian is what he's supposed to do, Doa wishes to be free from his shackles and be able to run as he pleases, as well as find a special someone to get him through his long nights of solitude.

Stripes (AJ Michalka) - Stripes is a serval who left the valley a long time ago, setting up her own clan of Felinae in a remote location where they'd be free from Panthera rule. That doesn't mean all Felinae in her clan are free to do as they want, for Stripes has put herself on top of the food chain and declared herself queen, often bossing the other cats around. When she comes across Mutt and Zuri, she offers them freedom from the shackles of the Panthera. But as the two soon discover, there are darker motives at play.

Bodi (Jemaine Clement) - Bodi is a Persian leopard who's been kept prisoner by Stripes's clan for a long time — not that he wouldn't be able to set himself free, rather he's so comically lazy he prefers being a well fed prisoner than actually having to lift his paws and do anything. That does make him a non-threatening ally to Mutt and Zuri, but getting him to actually help proves to be a challenge.

Rufus (Benedict Wong) - Rufus is a liger, the last remnant of a once powerful lion clan that has since vanished from the valley. Due to being a crossbreed between two species, Rufus is technically the largest and most brutish Panthera around, but his brute strength is contrasted by a complete lack of wit, and so he acts as a bodyguard to the more authoritative Panthera rather than excercising any authority of his own. He speaks in simple sentences and his mass makes him easy to outrun despite his threatening appearance, but those that get into a fight with him often don't come out unscathed.

Volkow (Jason Isaacs) - Often referred to as "Uncle Volkow", Volkow is a Siberian tiger and one of the older Panthera in the valley, serving as Janji's right hand. Janji often turns to him for advise on sticky situations, but that proves troublesome as Volkow is resentful of much of Janji's philosophy, and often suggests Janji uses brute tactics rather than wisdom and diplomacy to get the job done. As Janji's rule comes to an end, Volkow is technically next in line for the throne, and he has every intention to make sure it stays that way.

Yuri (Daniel Craig) - Yuri is Volkow's nephew and the film's main antagonist. Having left the valley due to his burning hatred of Janji and everything he stands for, he makes a sudden reapparance once the sun sets on Janji's rule, believing the throne to be his to claim. He finds himself at first outnumbered when many Panthera side with his uncle over him, but Yuri's charismatic speeches and strongman tactics quickly win many over to his side, even as his proposals pose a huge threat to the future of the valley and the lives of many Felinae that live in it.

The film's visuals, while aiming for photorealism, will employ a more fantastical quality akin to films like Life of Pi or Avatar than the live-action version of The Lion King. Wiggle room is also left in the depiction of the cats to allow more expressive faces, and size differences that may be altered in service of artistic license.

A representative from Cookie Pictures has confirmed the film is aiming for either a hard PG or a soft PG-13 rating. "It's a film that doesn't shy away from its themes about life, death, prejudice, responsibility, growing up, changes both good and bad, and where the world both outside and inside are very much a threat to our protagonists. It's a film of large scope with  many intense moments and where many shades of gray apply, but it's still a movie about family and togetherness, so we think it'll resonate with family audiences while still delivering the thrills the more general moviegoing public come to expect. It's a movie with sharp teeth, but a lot of heart."

Panthera: The New Age will be released in July of Y7 in theaters, IMAX, and Dolby Atmos, with plans being drafted for a Cinerama release.
