Tate Taylor is taking the director's chair for Room 131. James Foley will not be directing the spinoff to the Poison and Wine series. Creative differences has been the confirmed reason for the departure. It has been speculated that James wanted Room 131 to be more of a prequel to the series and a drama (the film was rumored to be called Wildfire) while Tate Taylor was wanting the film to be a spinoff (more stand alone) and a psychological thriller.

Florence Pugh has been announced to joining the cast.

TRON

F I R E B R A N D

Set thirteen years after the events of Tron: Legacy, the Grid has evolved into a self-sufficient, almost human-like cyberpunk society, ruled by multiple factions each vying for control in the absence of a superior program such as Clu or the MCP. The escapades of Kevin Flynn, his son Sam, and the "ISO" Quorra have faded into legend, and the whereabouts of the security program known as "Tron" remains a mystery.

Firebrand begins by following Detective Heras, a security program assembled to investigate and take down malware that's always present within the Grid, hoping to one day completely rid the system of glitches and bugs in the hope that it'll lead to peace between the factions and a better future for the Grid. His work only grows more difficult and complicated over time, however, causing him to lose faith in his own purpose.

On one routine mission, however, Heras runs into a pair of rogue programs who are looking for ways to escape the Grid altogether, using the legends of the Flynns as a guide. While Heras is initially tasked to hunt these programs down, he soon discovers that at least one of them isn't a program at all, but rather a "User" — a human from the outside world — who has somehow found themselves trapped within the Grid ever since Sam and Quorra escaped. Finding a renewed sense of purpose, Heras joins the rogues in searching for ways to escape the Grid, now having to help them evade the eyes of an insurgent collective known as Firebrand, who intends to apprehend the User and use them for their own nefarious purposes.

Tron: Legacy helmer Joseph Kosinski, who since went on to direct films like Oblivion, Only the Brave, and most notably Top Gun: Maverick, is set to return to direct Firebrand. Most of the visual aesthetic employed in Legacy will return, but feature a more "vibrant, updated" look to turn the Grid into a bustling metroscape—like the setting of the Disney XD series Tron: Uprising, but with a greater variety of neon colors.

M83-60.jpg500x500.jpg

Due to the relatively recent split of the electronic music duo Daft Punk, the group as a whole will not return to score Firebrand. M83 founder Anthony Gonzalez and composer Joseph Trapanese, who collaborated on Kosinski's Oblivion, will instead compose the main score, albeit both will work to recreate much of the instrumental mood Daft Punk brought to the 2010 film.

Daft Punk's influence isn't completely gone from Firebrand, however, for one half of the former duo, Thomas Bangalter, will provide additional compositions for the film. He will be joined by French DJ Gesaffelstein (Miké Levy) and popular artist The Weeknd (Abel Makkonen Tesfaye) to provide multiple songs for the film's sprawling soundtrack. The Weeknd and Gesaffelstein have previously collaborated on multiple singles and extended plays.

Academy Award nominee Tom Hardy will be leading the film as Detective Heras, and he will be joined by Academy Award nominee Paul Mescal and Independent Spirit Award nominee Taylor Russell as the two rogues he chooses to protect.

153339_v9_bb.jpg

Academy Award winner Michael Sheen will make a surprise return as Castor, a supermodel program who ran the End of the Line club featured in Legacy. Despite the character's demise in that film, Castor has been reconstructed using scattered data of both himself and his female associates (known in that film as "Sirens"), and is now a more violent and aggressive program who runs a club called The Down Under, located in the Grid's underbelly. He will take on a major supporting role and even serve as the film's secondary antagonist.

332705_v9_bc.jpgimage?locale=sv-se&target=circle

The film's main antagonist, however, will be actor Matt Smith as the stoic yet ruthless leader of Firebrand. Charles Parnell, who was in both Top Gun: Maverick and Kosinski's Spiderhead, also joins as Detective Heras's superior. Cookie Pictures is currently in talks with Jeff BridgesGarrett Hedlund, and Olivia Wilde on possibly returning in minor roles/cameos, but their presence in the film haven't been finalized.

Tron: Firebrand may see release in either Y10 or Y11, but it will come down to Cookie Pictures's own film schedule and wether there's time/room for it. The film has a tentative production cost of $170 million, and if going for a Y10 release will likely be in the first quarter (likely February/March) to avoid conflict with Cookie Pictures's other tentpole films — The Scavenger Wars Part IV, Hilda and the Black Forest, The Hunted and Cassie & Marion Save the Universe. If released in Y11, the film will likely aim for an October/November slot.

In the far future... lost in a dream.

Patty Jenkins's

THE SCAVENGER WARS

THE ETHEREAL DREAM

June 19th, Y10

Quote

Set before, during, and after the events of The Scavenger Wars Part II and III, Kira Barks finds herself haunted by a recurring dream — A vision of a place that exists beyond the borders of our universe, guarded by the powers of the Astral Realm. A place sought after by some of the most powerful beings in the universe—Ares, lord of the Dominion, being among them—for the treasures it holds and for the people residing within it. That place... is Ethergaard.

During an attempt to infiltrate the Dominion mothership in the search of a possible Pallasyne antidote, Kira and her brother Joel—corrupted by the Pallasyne—suddenly find themselves transported right into Ethergaard, beyond the borders and beyond Ares's grasp. Crash-landing right in the heart of the realm, Kira soon finds herself under the care/mercy of the Lady of Ethergaard herself, Àlainne, and under the watchful eye of her two daughters, the beautiful Mathilda and the electrifying Darryn. Forced to bend the knee to a royal family that could literally end her at the slightest touch, Kira embarks on a journey of discovery that involves her navigating extraordinary powers, a complicated family history, even messier family relationships, and the ever-present threat of Ares and his Dominion army banging at their doors.

Joel, meanwhile, lands in the outer corners of Ethergaard. Immediately declared an outlaw, Joel finds himself on the run from Àlainne's forces, but it isn't long before he discovers that he and Kira weren't the only ones to have been transported into Ethergaard. Something far more sinister had made its way in — A man who'll soon take advantage of Joel's condition and the precarious position he's found himself in, with the goal of steering him onto the path towards destroying Ethergaard and putting the entire universe in peril....

...The son of Ares, the forger of Ethergaard, and the former lover of Àlainne... Tenebris.

Cast List:

aItOavC.png

  • Naomi Scott as Kira, full name Kira Barks, sister of Joel. Kira has grown stronger since the first Scavenger Wars film, now able to lift heavy objects and punch her way through brick walls without breaking a sweat, but that hasn't made her any happier. Instead, she's been struggling with a crippling depression stemming from a multitude of factors, not the least of which being unable to deal with her brother's condition, and these recurring dreams she's been having. Her arrival at Ethergaard puts her face to face with new dangers, but also new opportunities, especially once she grows closer to Àlainne's two daughters for differing reasons.
  • Carey Mulligan as Àlainne, the Lady of Ethergaard, ruler of the eponymous realm and described as "the most powerful being in the universe" by some, although the legitimacy of that claim remains unclear. Despite her immense power, nothing in the universe matters to her more than the well-being of her daughters, even if how she treats them may in fact be causing them lasting damage instead. She's prone to mood swings, flipping from "cool mom", to a block of ice, to a mad queen and back seemingly on a dime. She has immense telekinesis powers, able to invade people's minds and lift massive objects just by aiming her hand at them. Despite appearing like a woman in her 30s, she's actually far older than she seems, owing her extended lifespan to the astral.
  • Hailee Steinfeld as Darryn, the first daughter of Àlainne. She possesses the power to discharge electricity at will, but her powers are restrained by astral magic put upon her by Àlainne, meaning her bolts are far less powerful than they should be. She has a fractured relationship with both her mother and her sister, Mathilda, and is the only one willing to stand up against her mother, even if Àlainne appears unfazed by her attempts to rebel. When Kira first arrives in Ethergaard, she is the first to direct her mistrust towards her, but she warms up to her as the story progresses.
  • Thomasin McKenzie as Mathilda, aka "Mattie", the second daughter of Àlainne. Known as the fairest girl in all of Ethergaard, she is as kind and immediately friendly to Kira as she is beautiful, making it easy for Kira to fall for her. Despite her gentleness, Darryn instead sees her as cowardly, for Mattie often struggles to stand up for herself whenever their mother tries to impose her will onto them. She tries all she can to heal the rift that's formed between her and her sister, but Darryn remains stubborn in her resentment. Mattie has the power to create portals out of thin air, allowing her and anyone using them to warp all over the place, but getting those portals to work when she's under stress or in a pinch proves to be a challenge.
  • ** Robert Pattinson as Tenebris, son of Ares and one of the original founders of Ethergaard along with Àlainne. Once Àlainne's lover, he was betrayed by her and left to die in the darkness of space, only to be rescued and revived by his father. Now harboring a deep desire for revenge, Tenebris proves to be a cold, calculative, and manipulative tactician who also has the power to alter reality and mind for the person he targets, which unfortunately happens to be Joel. Tenebris spends most of the film in a "human" form, but he is initially portrayed as a beast when he's first revived by Ares. Despite appearing like a man in his 30s, he's actually much older than he seems, owing his extended lifespan to the astral.
  • Daniel Henney as Joel, full name Joel Barks, brother of Kira. Ever since being injected with the Pallasyne serum he has been blessed with inhumane strength and durability, but cursed with a poison that is slowly killing him when it isn't turning him into an unstoppable rage monster. Joel has spent his time between films trying to gain control of the latter, and may have actually succeeded by the time The Ethereal Dream rolls around, meaning he only has to worry about the former (or so he thinks). When he lands in Ethergaard and is branded a terrorist, his belief in traditional heroism is put to the test when he has to do dark and dirty deeds in order to survive, an internal conflict that makes him a ripe target for Tenebris's influence.
  • ** Andy Serkis as Ares, lord of the Dominion and a multi-story beast who seeks to invade Ethergaard with his army of "Corrupted" (humans and aliens who have been turned to monsters using Ares's methods) beings. Despite these ambitions, the film will depict a different, more melancholic side of Ares compared to past entries, showing a genuine concern for his son and what appears to be a lingering regret over past actions, even if whether those were his actions in Part II and III or even before that remain unclear. Like Tenebris, Ares will also appear in a "human" form, but in a more limited capacity.
  • James Badge Dale as Captain Hanaghan Haiche, captain of Àlainne's inner circle of guards and counterintelligence personnel. Haiche sports a metal arm with a marble finish, giving him access to not just brute strength but a personal array of gears and other trickery at his disposal. He is ruthless to anyone he sees as beneath him, and Kira's arrival in particular puts him on the offense.
  • * David Dastmalchian as Deimos, the right hand to Ares. Being a "Corrupted" but who possesses a significant amount of intelligence, Deimos tries to loyally serve his emperor as much as he can, but he grows increasingly frustrated when he finds himself at odds with many of Ares's decisions throughout the story.
  • Jeremy Irons as Lamharigh, the right hand to Àlainne. Lamharigh shares Àlainne's extended lifespan, claiming to have been around since before the birth of most nearby galaxies. He is mild-mannered, well-spoken, and even possesses a bit of snark underneath, which he uses to subtly put anyone he finds is being disrespectful in their place just with mere words. He is also the official recordkeeper of Ethergaard, writing down almost everything that happens in thousands of journals for the sake of making sure that none of history ends up being lost.

* ** Tenebris and Ares will be portrayed both by using motion capture and by their respective actors appearing in physical form. Dastmalchian's Deimos, on the other hand, will only be portrayed through motion-capture.

THE SCAVENGER WARS

THE LAST QUEEN OF KHOUGA

June 18th, Y11

Quote

Her planet, gone. Her people, scattered. Her legacy, in tatters.

Forging an alliance with the surviving members of the H.F.F (Human Federation Fleet), the Queen of the demolished rock once known as Khouga, Tamara, ventures forth to find and reunite her lost people and bring them under one banner with the human race—A faction they had once been at war with, and a war whose scars still run deep.

The more of the Khougans that are rescued and assimilated, the more fragile the alliance becomes, especially when people within the H.F.F.—notably, the newly appointed Grand Admiral Julia Hemphill—start to demand more of Tamara and her people than they're able to provide. Old tensions flare up once again, and Tamara has to rely on the few she could truly trust more than ever in the hopes of preventing a catastrophe that would ultimately mean the end of both worlds.

But it may already be too late. A fire has been brewing in the darkness, nesting within the easily corruptible hearts of her own people. A fire that craves vengeance for the perceived wrongs of its enemies. A fire that craves to destroy all that it touches.

A fire harnessed by none other than the deadly Iris Hestia.

And for Tamara, all her roads have led to Iris.

Cast List:

Spoiler

actor-ariana-debose-475340_large.jpg?165emma-darcy_x1x.jpg_1482777527.jpg

  • * Ariana DeBose as Tamara, the last queen to have ruled over the planet of Khouga before its untimely end. Kindhearted yet stubborn to the very end, Tamara battles not just external threats but her own looming mortality, brought on by the mistakes made by Sal in Part II. She has faced the likes of Packer, Jarek, Enyo, Ares, and even the demonic Zedium, and walked out bruised but breathing, but can she survive against Iris? Question is... is she even meant to?
  • * Emma D'Arcy as Iris Hestia, the antagonist of The Last Queen of Khouga and the product of everything Tamara fears. *Supposedly* a Khougan herself, Iris harnesses the power of fire, able to alight anything she touches, but just as dangerous is her ability to rally Tamara's own people to her destructive cause, forming an insurgency that reaches beyond what even her flames are capable of.

JOV4geU.pngbiB2URP.png

  • Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Lucina, the former captain of the H.F.F Milky Way, now a recovering alcoholic struggling with both guilt and a crippling depression, unable to truly cope with how her revenge scheme in Part III was, as Sunn said, for nothing. Her one ray of hope is that she could still help Tamara with whatever challenges befell her, but she's also having to deal with her age starting to get to her.
  • Chiwetel Ejiofor as Captain Aaron Sebastian, the captain of the H.F.F Milky Way who succeeded Lucina. Aaron has his shit together, unlike his predecessor, but he remains torn between wanting to help Tamara whichever way he can and having to answer to his new superior, leading to some tumultuous situations as the incoming crisis hits the H.F.F and hits it hard.
  • * Bex Taylor-Klaus as Sunndubbed the "Angel from Heaven" by the humans after saving most of them from the wrath of Ares in Part II, Sunn might be the only figure who's revered by both species, but since the events of Part III, she's come to reject the fame, choosing to remain isolated, bitter, and angry over the loss of her sister, Luna. When her caretaker, Cecilia Gustavo, decides to invite Phoebe into their home, Sunn immediately finds herself at odds with them.
  • * Bella Ramsey as Phoebe, a recent arrival from an off-planet Khougan colony who is taken under the care of Cecilia, although their true origins remains a mystery. She's revealed to harness powers not dissimilar from Sunn's, putting them in the position of having to be the one to break down the barriers Sunn's put up for herself. Phoebe uses they/them pronouns.
  • Sasha Lane as Sal, former Khougan sniper and currently a H.F.F detainee. Sal has, as she said she would do in Part III, accepted her punishment, and is working on her redemption. She still desires to remain close to Tamara as much as possible, leading to some tension between her and Lucina, but she insists it's in the service of good this time.
  • David Mazouz as Henry, genius inventor and also a H.F.F detainee. Sentenced to house arrest over his contraband activities over the past decade, Henry relies on Tamara to argue for his character and rescue him from a worse punishment. During his house arrest, he happens to meet with Khougan refugee Milo by chance, forming an unexpected bond with him.
  • Holly Hunter as Grand Admiral Julia Hemphill, the former captain of the H.F.F Pinwheel and the newly appointed Grand Admiral of the entire federation, Hemphill begins applying draconian measures to resolve the incoming refugee crisis almost immediately, becoming the source of most of the growing tension between the Khougans and the humans, only exacerbated when she starts to argue that she alone should be responsible for deciding Sal and Henry's fates.
  • Kenneth Branagh as Arthur Hampstead, geologist and interim captain of the H.F.F Pinwheel, if only because no one else was willing to accept the position. He proves inexperienced and clumsy at his captain duties, and things only get worse once he retrieves his precious Pallasyne rock (last seen in Part II) and becomes obsessed with it.
  • Hannah John-Kamen as Enyo, a Khougan mercenary leader who was responsible for providing Jarek personnel and artillery to fuel his violent coup in Part II, now on the run and addicted to painkillers after being mauled by Tamara's robot hound Carrie in Part III. When Iris emerges, Enyo starts getting the idea that she could perhaps tame her, prompting her to turn around and attack the H.F.F and Tamara head-on.
  • * Sebastian Croft as Milo, a Khougan refugee who is forced along with his family to live in the slums onboard the H.F.F Milky Way. He possesses traces of astral powers himself, but none of them have fully developed yet. During his stay in the slums, he stumbles upon Henry by chance, forming an unexpected bond with him.
  • * Hunter Schafer as Zeraphine, Milo's older sister and fellow Khougan refugee. Her outlook is far more pessimistic than her brother's, but she remains collected for the sake of both him and the rest of her family, having to be the one to navigate them through the incoming calamity. She accepts Henry's presence begrudgingly, if only because her own difficult upbringing made her somewhat relate. Zeraphine is the franchise's first MtF transgender character.
  • * Daniel Kaluuya as Kondaar, the leader of a Khougan indigenous tribe, banished to an off-planet colony by Tamara's father, King Te'Chek, many years back. He and his tribe join the H.F.F in hopes that Tamara would prove to be the leader her father was not, but the more her leadership prowess becomes tested with each new crisis, the more he starts having doubts.

Lauren Vélez is also set to return as Cecilia Gustavo, Sunn's caretaker, and C4RR13, aka "Carrie" will also appear.

NUMERATOR PICTURES ANNOUNCES MODERATE YEAR 10 SHAKEUP

Numerator Pictures today has announced a moderate shakeup to its Year 10 plans, mainly involving some shuffling of directors.

Guy Ritchie, who had been originally slated to direct the Period Spy Action flick His Majesty's Service, will now be directing the Steampunk Dark Comedy Thriller A Scholar and a Gentlemen, loosely based on events from the boxofficetheory forum. Ritchie will be replacing Martin McDonagh. No casting has been confirmed for that film, though it is heavily rumored that Liam Neeson will have a supporting role. A Scholar and a Gentlemen is expected to premiere in November Year 10.

Taking over for Ritchie on His Majesty's Service will be British director Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland, State of Play, Black Sea, The Mauritanian). Casting for the film is not finished, but many of the major historical roles have been cast:

Tom Hiddleston as Ian Fleming

George Mackay as Roald Dahl

Sam Heughan as C.S. Forester

Josh O'Connor as Richard Patrick Russ

Harry Collett as Christopher Lee

Mackenzie Davis as Virginia Hall

Alicia Vikander as Halina Szymańska

Aimee Lou Wood as Nancy Wake

His Majesty's Service is expected to premiere in December Year 10.

Martin McDonagh will instead direct for Numerator Pictures a crime film that is tentatively titled The Right Note. The film will be based on the 1956 David Goodis novel Down There, though it will swap the novel's 1950's Philadelphia setting for Ireland in the early 1970s. The film will follow a former concert pianist who's abandoned his prior career to instead anonymously play the piano in a piano bar in Dublin, and is unwillingly swept into a plot of murder, kidnapping, and pursuits when his criminal brother double-crosses the Irish Republican Army in an arms deal.

Casting for the film is underway, but some roles have been finalized. Cillian Murphy will play the main character, and Domhnall Gleeson will play one of the film's antagonists. Other actors rumored for roles in the film include Chris O'Dowd, Kerry Condon, Liam Cunningham, and Jude Hill.

Down There was previously been adapted in 1960 by François Truffaut as the French film Shoot the Piano Player.

The Right Note is aiming for a Year 10 release, either in April or the Fall.

After announcing the cancellation of Arianna Reiche short story adaptation Soil, Phoenix Fire Pictures has reverted their decision and rebooted the project, with the helming now belonging to Aftersun writer/director Charlotte Wells, who will also write and direct Soil. This film will be released on July Y10, in an untraditional limited wide release of just over 1000 theaters on its opening weekend, expanding to over 2500 on the week after that.

As for Leave No Trace, Paradise Island and The Space Between Trees helmer Debra Granik, who was previously tapped to direct Soil, her and Phoenix Fire have spun the original draft of the film - which strongly deviated from the source material - into its own standalone, original film , titled Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery. This film will be released in November Y10.

Room 131's budget is confirmed to be $10 million. This means it will be the lowest in the Poison and Wine series. First film had a $12 million budget, second film had a $20 million budget, and third film had a $30 million budget. This is mostly due to the fact that the film is contained in a single setting much like the first film. Room 131 will have an identical runtime as Truth Is with 100 minutes long. Room 131 is confirmed to have an R rating. It cares a warning for graphic violence unlike the previous films, confirming the speculated change of atmosphere for the new installment. Film will open February 13th with previews occurring the evening on February 12th starting around 5:00pm.

There is rumors that Giovanni the another long rumored spin off might be coming out in October. This production has been shelved for a few years due to creative differences on the story. Christmas Time Again is another shelved spin-off has seen some discussion rumored around it but it is less likely to hit cinemas anytime soon. The PG-13 Christmas musical was suppose to help break the series into wide audiences from the niche hard R LGBT heavy audiences. None of these productions feature the infamous duo Tyler and Hunter. I think we are all thankful for that ;)

I'm glad Giovanni is finally happening. It was pretty good from what I remembered.

Sarah Chalke (Rick and Morty, Cougar Town, Paradise PD) has signed on to voice the main villain in The Gadgets, which is slated for a Christmas Y11 release date. A brief logline was released too: “Inspector Gadget, Penny and Brain are forced once again to save the world, as The Baroness (Sarah Chalke), a former lover of Dr. Claw and number 2 of MAD has resurfaced for revenge after the not-so-good doctor left her at the altar and then fired her, taking control of MAD via a coup with a dastardly plan and taken down the agency Gadget works for. The Gadget family teams up with the most unlikely allies: the villainous mastermind Dr. Claw and his surrogate daughter MADdie. The two families must learn to work together if they want to save/conquer the world, that is if they can stop themselves from killing each other.”

Levi reveals he’s a Watcher, an interdimensional being part of a collective making sure universes are safe, and he was assigned to watch over the Milky Way Galaxy in particular. However, unlike the scene in question, we see Needles (Issac Ryan Brown), a young 13 year old duppy in the background as he makes a series of mocking faces while Bailee attempts to stifle her laughter. Levi is promptly confused until Needles reveals himself and contorting his body to look scary causing Levi to scream and faint like a child. Both Needles and Bailee laugh at this.

Randy is alarmed to see what he deems another toon watching him, until Ashley explains that she loved watching him when he was younger. Randy is pleasantly surprised to see a human, let alone a fan as he reintroduces himself. Randy offers to show her around but notes they’ll have to disguise her. Ashley asks if there some sort of never to be seen by human rule, as Randy admits there isn’t as there place is mainly a paradise so there’s no reason for them to need to go to the human realm. Randy is then tackled-hug by Screech (Ynairly Simo), a young 10 year old duppy, who aims to make Randy her pet, promising to feed him, dress him up pretty and more, changing his name to Cupcake too as Randy yells for help.

Screech: Your neighbor’s yard.

Teaser 3: 3D showings

Endless Animation

We open to a scene in The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. Gaining an idea, using her smaller size to her advantage, Squirrel Girl (Anna Kendrick) runs to a gigantic building, but Fin Fang Foom is able to get inside but half of his long body is stuck in the building using his long neck and head to pursue her. Squirrel Girl taunts Fin Fang Foom and causing Fin Fang Foom to crash into the building’s foundation multiple times in his attempt to eliminate her while climbing to the top.

Squirrel Girl finally reaches the top of the building, realizing that she’s sort of stuck up there but gets a clearer view of Kang’s ship. Thinking of comical ways to get up there, she goes through a few ideas that she dismisses, until she finally has an idea… when Fin Fang Foom’s large head bursts out of the floor and devours her. Fin Fang Foom comments she tasted a bit gamey. However, hanging onto the dragon’s uvula, Squirrel Girl, covered in saliva, forces the dragon to gag her out, landing on a barely standing ledge. Fin Fang Foom tries to strike again until the dragon is completely frozen. We see Chill (Priah Ferguson), a 12 year old duppy sporting punk like clothes and aesthetics as Squirrel Girl is confused by the situation as Chill snarks “You’re Welcome”.

Meet Chill

Chill lets out a deep sigh as she causes a door to entirely freeze solid.

She’s cold as ice

Chill is chilling out, listening to music in her own world, completely ignoring some of the workers asking for her help.

and you’ll meet her next summer

Chill is making a series of ice sculptures as practice as Needles’ demands for sculptures become more complex until she is fed up and make an unfaltering sculpture of Needles made out of ice.

O$corp Pictures has announced pre-production has begun on the film adaption of Shaun David Hutchison's At the Edge of the Universe. Casting is expected to be finalized soon and it is speculated that M. Night Shyamalan will be taking the director's chair for the film. The film's summary reads: "At the Edge of the Universe is about a boy who believes the universe is slowly shrinking as the things he remembers are being erased from others’ memories.

Well that was quick! M. Night Shyamalan will not be directing At the Edge of the Universe. The studio announced today that Peter Hoar will be in the director's chair. One cannot help but think that the critical & audience acclaim for The Last of Us Season 1 Episode 3 which Peter directed is the reason why he got this gig. George Sear (Love Victor) has been cast as the lead character, Ozzie as well. The studio is working closely with Shaun David Hutchinson on working on this project. It is refreshing to see a studio working with the source material's creator :)

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is in advanced post-production at Phoenix Fire Pictures. The film is slated for a July 17, Y10 release, and has an assembled cast for its main characters:

Jamie Foxx as Carl "CJ" Johnson

O'Shea Jackson Jr. as Sweet Johnson (a younger version of this character)

Craig Robinson as Big Smoke

Jay Hernandez as Cesar Vialpando

and Samuel L. Jackson as Frank Tenpenny

While the studio's first GTA film - Y9's Grand Theft Auto, a loose adaptation of the first two games in the series - was not a critical hit and only made modest box office returns, Phoenix Fire is still confident in the artistic potential of the GTA series, stating that San Andreas, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys for Life), will be a course correction to the series, in that it'll be a closer and more linear/straightforward adaptation of the game it's based on, while bringing in core elements of the game series, such as gang warfare - although it still takes a hefty amount of creative liberties as to adapt the game to a cinematic structure.

The studio is confident with the ongoing production and believes it to have enough quality and nostalgia hype going for it to be a decent money earner during the competitive Summer season, despite the first film's lackluster box office.
