Studio Groundswell has greenlit a "based on a true story" kidnapping thriller where two Indy cousins band together after a car is stolen from a gas station with two infant boys inside. Groundswell wants to base the script on an article (or two if possible). Groundswell is looking for an African-American director and African-American actresses to play the cousins and the kidnapper. Potential titles include The UnthinkableMiracleCold FrontIn the Cold, and others but hasn't decided on one. Groundswell wants to release the film in December.

Studio Groundswell News

- Zombie thriller The Shell has found a 'curveball' director choice in 99 Homes/The White Tiger director Ramin Bahrani, who happens to be from North Carolina, the state where the story is based. Bahrani is not only re-exploring NC but also taking a stab at the horror genre, which he has proven to possess the correct intensity for through the aforementioned thrillers.

Gargoyle has replaced Aurora as Groundswell's Christmas Day release. Aurora will be released in Y11 instead. Groundswell wants a strong female director to helm and is still waiting for the right moment to finalize that choice.

- Groundswell has picked a title and director for the kidnapping thriller. The film is titled The Unthinkable and will be directed by The Hate U Give director George Tillman Jr.. Kylie Bunbury (Big Sky) and Lashana Lynch (The Woman King) will star as the cousins who search for and rescue the missing infant(s), while Dominique Thorne (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) will star in the transformative type-defying role of the young kidnapper.

The new logline for Endless/DC’s teamup movie, The Siege of Savage has dropped:

”After the events of Green Arrow: The Ninth Circle, Static Shock: Frozen Summer and Martian Manhunter, as fears of metahuman takeover are at an all time high, Vandal Savage (Benecio del Toro) decides to make his gambit for world domination by recruiting a legion of villains to join him in creating the ultimate weapon using ancient Martian technology. Upon being alerted to this, Martian Princess M’gann (Lyric Ross) recruits and unites Earth’s heroes (Green Arrow (Charlie Hunnam), Arsenal (Lana Condor), Blue Beetle (Jake T Austin), Booster Gold (Asa Butterfield), Static (Niles Fitch), Plastic-Man (Bill Hader), and Martian Manhunter (Lance Reddick) to stop him whilst dealing with how to be a team and a new hero created by the government which will make them obsolete: AMAZO.”

Familiar villains like the Static Shock franchise’s Hotstreak (Nicholas Hamilton), Blue and Gold’s Black Beetle (Michelle Rodriguez), Martian Manhunter’s Ma’alefa’ak (Laurence Fishburne), and Plastic-Man’s Kite-Man (Billy Magnussen) will join Savage’s Legion as well as well as Cheshire (Arden Cho), the most deadliest hitwoman on the planet with her own secrets.

The Siege of Savage, is said to be the end of Endless’ DC Universe as the studio intends to leave the universe behind with the exception of Static Shock as Irving is attached to that character and the Green Lantern Corps series which exists in a separate universe with part three coming Christmas Y10.

The Siege of Savage directed by Jeff Fowler (Sonic the Hedgehog franchise) will release July 18th, Y10.

From director Zach Parrish (Us Again) and the studio behind Matilda and the Night Children and Gateways, comes the studio’s next original feature; the romantic comedy musical ALLEGRA.

Unlike most musicals in mainstream animation where there’s royalty and magical kingdoms or high stakes adventures or singing animals, Allegra is inspired by the musical craze in the 1950s-1960s, taking place in the modern world though it does have fantasy elements, where the focus is a lot on the song and dance numbers using the art of animation to heighten them.

“Taking place during the Golden Age of Broadway, world-renowned playwright Tyler the Terrific (Ewan McGreggor (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, the Star Wars franchise)) has created some of the most spellbinding and captivating musicals and plays, but has lost his touch and drive. Luckily, his world turns upside down when he finds possibly his next big star: Allegra (Renee Elise Goldsberry (Hamilton, The Color Purple)), who not only has an incredible voice but also creates special effects that look real seemingly out of nowhere, which seems to good to be true. The catch?, Allegra happens to be an actual witch. Together, the two take Broadway by storm but also grow increasingly close to each other.”

Kody Kavitha (Dead End: Paranormal Park), Elle McLemore (Heathers: The Musical) , Patti Lupone (Les Miserables, Evita, Steven Universe), Anthony Ramos (In the Heights, Ironheart) with Emma Stone (La La Land, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Keegan Michael-Key (Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey, Wonka) also make up the rest of the cast.

Stephen Schwartz (The Prince of Egypt, Wicked) will help write the songs for Allegra as the movie once again harnesses the powers of Worldmeander. This time, though traditional animation is the main drawing point as Parrish envisions a style similar to Netflix/Sergio Pablos’ Klaus and Disney Animation 2023’s release, Wish. Allegra will take Lovely Buddies’ Memorial Day Y10 slot as Lovely Buddies will move to Luigi’s Mansion September slot as that film is on the backburner once more.

Fossil Record has revealed more information about its mysterious upcoming movie FishergirlsA synopsis was shared with the magazine:

"On the tropical, lush world of Lyr, Gray is a girl with a dream. Feeling stifled by the traditions of her culture, she's determined to perform the sacred rite of passage that has been forbidden to females for centuries, constructing a ship and exploring the treacherous seas beyond the islands they call home. Together with her friends Leaf and Atoll, she's ready to do anything to prove that she can be the woman she says she is. But danger lurks in these unknown waters-- the maps say 'here be dragons', and for good reason, too. . ."

In addition to the synopsis, preliminary concept artwork of the three main characters was revealed. They were shown to be humanoid fox-like creatures, drawn in a watercolor style by San Francisco artist Chris Wayan, who was also announced to be the film's script writer. "Fishergirls will be less a typical animated film, and more a moving watercolor painting," Fossil Record CEO Mark Pierce says. "This is has been tried only a few times before, and the phenomenon of seeing this on the big screen is really something else. You'll feel like you're not just watching a movie-- you're actually seeing a painting come to life in front of you. This is an artistic movie in every sense of the word."  Much is still unknown about Fishergirls, including the director, the budget, the intended rating, and the release date.

Endless Entertainment and it’s studios have purchased a handful of projects for its upcoming years.

The second is Bodies of Interest, an R-rated action comedy, involving two strippers get involved in solving a series of kidnappings. Quinta will write the movie as Gina-Prince Bythewood is being courted to direct.

- Endless Animation has confirmed long gestated originals are in the works. The Valkyries vs The Galaxy which is now said to be aiming for a PG-13 rating and Barry Brookshire, a long gestated project that it’s parent Endless Entertainment has been knocking around for years, said to be helmed by Joel Crawford (Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, The Croods: A New Age)

Some updates from Phoenix Fire Pictures.

Currently, the only two films in late post-production (potentially finished) are Christina Choe's The Enormous Radio and Ridley Scott's Cloud Cuckoo Land. Phoenix Fire CEO Andrew Medley commented on this to CAYOM Magazine, saying: "Our current post-production work has been limited, as to not overcharge the studio too in advance before the arrival of the new game year, allowing us to choose the projects we're gonna advance with more carefully."

As such, some updates are worth giving to the schedule.

First, Steven Spielberg will no longer direct The Lottery. The choice was a creative one. Mr. Medley, Mr. Spielberg and other creative giants at Phoenix Fire agreed that Mr. Spielberg would not be the best fit for the upcoming adaptation of Shirley Jackson's iconic short story; he will in fact produce (with Amblin) and direct another film for Phoenix Fire, but it will not be this one.

Another film previously in production, Soil, has been cancelled, citing the studio's lack of confidence in the original short story's narrative flow for a film. Debra Granik is currently working in a different project for the studio.

Infinite Studios has also entered a multi-picture production deal with esteemed filmmaker Will Packer. The two studios have worked together to bring hits like Romance Road and Food Wars to the general audience, and hope to what insiders state to be, high-concept and mid budget comedies, similar to that of Universal and Blumhouse’s relationship in making horror.

Action-comedy, Bodies of Interest is one of them, slated for September 4th, Y10 which stars both Keke Palmer (Nope) and Ana de Armas (Deep Water) as a pair of rival strippers who take a string of kidnappings in the Atlanta area, including one of their dear friends.

Another is a co-production between Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Productions and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Seven Buck Productions, titled Hart of Rock, in which Kevin Hart and The Rock play fictionalized versions of themselves after a freak incident, find themselves in each other’s bodies. Hart of Rock will aim to be part of Endless’ summer slate alongside animated Allegra, and DC team-up, The Siege of Savage.

Dave Bautista (Dune, the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise) and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss (Seinfeld, National Lampoon Christmas Vacation, Captain America: New World Order) have signed on as main roles in Kelly Fremon Craig’s Red Flag.

Bautista plays Mr. Richards, an affable but stern English teacher and father to Serena Richards (Millie Bobby Brown), who despite losing her in the shooting, is still adamant with his teaching career despite retirement being around the corner.

Dreyfus’s plays Congresswoman Kira Carpenter, a key player in the Pennsylvania House and huge lobbyist for the NRA, determined to stop Violet’s (Haley Tju) gun regulation movement despite the fact that her son went to the same school and was promptly removed to a private school.

Cassie & Marion Save the Universe, the cinematic comeback of the Bounty Hamster franchise, swallows up theaters on Memorial Day weekend, Y10! To celebrate the occasion, we're releasing the finalized cast list of the Bounty gang's latest and greatest adventure!

AXQoxrj.png

  • Charlie Day as Marion, the greatest (and cheapest) bounty hunter in the galaxy! What Marion lacks in stature (and intelligence), he makes up for with an upbeat demeanor and a swallowing hunger for heroism — Just don't call him "cute"! With two galaxy-saving adventures under his belt, Marion has teamed up with crypto entrepreneur Vinny Vanderbilt to launch MariCoin, the first and only legitimate cryptocurrency in the entire Galactic Central! Surely, nothing can go wrong as Marion's gambles become larger, bolder, and start involving his friends in totally not dangerous ways!
  • Sophia Lillis as Cassie, Marion's bounty hunting companion and fellow galaxy savior! Cassie continues to navigate trying to live a normal life and getting roped into Marion's various wild adventures, but now having the support of both her parents and her college girlfriend Sylphiana makes her dual life a little easier to swallow (provided Marion doesn't swallow her). However, one of Marion's latest schemes carries with them consequences so dire she might just start to re-think that arrangement.
  • Yara Shahidi as Sylphiana, Cassie's college girlfriend who's both part time Cosmic Radio host and now a socially conscious activist. Somehow, she always finds herself roped in whenever Cassie gets into hot water (often as a result of Marion getting into hot water), but an unexpected assignment to the
    Spoiler

    hostile

planet of Varanus puts her and Cassie's relationship on especially tenuous grounds.
  • Emma Corrin as Patchet, an anthropomorphic fox who's both Sylphiana's new roommate and the newest member of the gang! Being a computer expert (at least compared to the technologically illiterate Marion), Patchet proves valuable to the team as their adventures only grow bigger and messier, even if they prefer staying inside with their Japanese manga and video games all day and not have to interact with other people. Still, they've got a heart of gold where it counts. Patchet uses they/them pronouns.
  • Adam Driver as Titanide, the latest bounty for Marion and Cassie to chase after, and a rewarding one at that! Stemming from Lacerta, the sister planet to Varanus, Titanide is a rogue threat to the stability between the two planets, and in order to keep interplanetary peace — especially in light of an upcoming galactic sporting event — it is up to our brave bounty hunters to bring him in! Surely, Titanide would prove as uncomplicated of an adversary to Cassie and Marion as their previous bounties, right? ...Right?!
  • Carl Lumbly as Captain Fab, a proud space captain (duh) who nevertheless has a bit of a problem with getting up there in age. A big problem, one might add, for now he's suddenly a creaky, cranky, old man! How did this happen?! And wasn't he played by [REDACTED] in the previous movies?!
  • Kate McKinnon as Moxie, Fab's weasel confidant who is now forced to push Fab around everywhere on account of his sudden rapid aging. When Marion and Cassie catch up with Moxie and Fab again, Moxie is already close to her breaking point with her boss.
  • Jessie Eisenberg as Vinny Vanderbilt, noted crypto entrepreneur and co-founder of MariCoin, the first and only legitimate cryptocurrency in all of the Galactic Central, soon to be the whole universe! Just don't question Vinny's background, motives, or the legitimacy of his whole operation, for Marion can vouch for him, so it's all fine! And Marion has never steered anyone wrong!
  • Claire Foy as Queen Ophélia, the royal consort to King Dinosys, regent of Varanus. Being the walking embodiment of

    gaslight, gatekeep,

girlboss, Ophélia is adored by her people and soon looked up upon as an inspiration by Cassie especially. After all, being the outward face of the great planet of Varanus comes with its perks,

even if Varanus is an oppressive, bigoted nation that Ophélia and her husband rule with an iron fist.

  • Justice Smith as Lupin, the star player of the Galactic Central Brawlerball Team — what's "Brawlerball", you may ask? It's like soccer, but much more violent — the anthropomorphic wolf has his sights set on taking home the F.G.B.A (Federal Galactic Brawlerball Association) Galactic Cup trophy, hosted

this time around on Varanus. Lupin is revealed to have a past with Patchet of all people, which comes in handy whenever Cassie and Marion need to recruit him for one of their hurriedly hatched plans.

In addition to the main cast, Benicio Del Toro joins as King Dinosys, the regent of Varanus. Jason Suidekis and Leslie Mann return as George and Vivian, Cassie's parents, as does Michelle Yeoh as Headmaster Oeme and Carly Rae Jepsen as recently-made galactic superstar Starlene! Rounding out the cast, Mikael Persbrandt appears as Jörgen Peterson, bootleg movie producer and a bounty for Cassie and Marion to seek out, and Anthony Carrigan appears in an undisclosed role.

Cassie and Marion Save the Universe is directed by franchise veteran David Soren in collaboration with The Sea Beast director Chris Williams, and promises to be the crew's biggest and most dangerous adventure yet! The film hits theaters and IMAX on May 22nd, Y10 — Further information, including a trailer, will arrive towards the end of Year 9.

Endless Animation's Gateways sequel has received another title change, from Gateways: The Gates to Eternity into Gateways: The Last Watcher. Director Jennifer Yuh Nelson comments that development is going surprisingly well, commenting they have the story finally figured out, and how to blend all of the animation styles, replying one portion of the film has beings of multiple animation styles interacting with each other to seamless degree thanks to the power of the Worldmeander technology. The budget is stated to be around 250m, and Nelson comments if pace continues this breakneck, the Y11 release date will happen.
