IT and The Stand are my two favorite King novels and I've wanted proper adaptations for them both for a while. With IT's success I'm hoping Josh Boone isn't too far off from starting The Stand.

Aren't they planning a HBO show and a movie? Or something like that

9/11, the new drama starring Charlie Sheen, is taking in a meager $50,000 on Friday, which could add up to just $150,000.

There is nothing clownish about the first box-office returns for It, which, according to preliminary box office estimates, is scaring up a whopping $47 million for the day, including its record-shattering $13.5 million in Thursday night previews.

Yup the studios definitely packed September with more & more notable films this month. Should improve over the overall box office blahs of August.

I'm not sure Blade Runner will be successful given its budget & potentially niche appeal, but Geostorm has felt like a flop for ages, especially given how long it's taken to be released.

I think WB and Sony aren't expecting blockbuster numbers for BR. Alcon put up most of the budget so neither studio are financially at risk

That puts It on track to flirt with a three-day take of around $100 million, well above even the most optimistic pre-release predictions.

By no means is it actually still guaranteed to make around 100M for 3 days (it could drop hard on Saturday, after all), but.... c'mon, let's be honest, there's only one movie in the history of DOM box office that made over 45M in a single day and missed 100M for a 3-day weekend, and that was The Fate Of The Furious which did 98M (and an OD of 45.7M).

If It holds on to this estimate, and manages to keep a steady Sat hold........... IT'S HAPPENING. :ohmygod:

Oh, who am I kidding, IT'S STILL FUCKING HAPPENING. AN R-RATED HORROR MOVIE IN SEPTEMBER IS GONNA DO 90M+ IN 3 DAYS. THIS IS CRAZY, HOLY SHIT. OH MY GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

Some ugly theater drops the next few weeks. Theaters are gonna be eager to drop these movies that are barely selling anything anymore.

Also wouldn't put too much stock in that Hollywood Reporter number since it's 12:13 in CA right now but yep, astonishing if it holds.

Like I said earlier, I'm totally thinking American Assassin and mother! will be managing two screens each next weekend at midsize theaters with how shitty the holdovers are.
