Yeah, this franchise has nothing to prove, Lionsgate released this movie thinking in the love of art, not to generate any money from this.

Come on. I also dont like the Saw franchise and torture porn in general but Jigsaw is as much NOT a work of art as HDD is. You make it clear that you hate the Saw films and thats fine with me; but its really not necessary to constantly bring it up. Jigsaw will make a profit, HDD already made a good profit; and both movies will be totally forgotten in a year. And Every movie ever is designed to make money, thats the purpose of them; their products. Saw was and is an incredibly profitable franchise and this movie will atleast stop this weekend from beeing even worse than it aleady is.

But I’m just saying that it’s ridiculous to claim that “a franchise has nothing to prove”, every released movie has some goal to reach, and its not different with this franchise.

And HDD will be remembered for a long time as one of the most amazing Horror movies released in the best year for Horror movies of this decade, along with Split, GO, A:C and IT. While Jigsaw will be vanished by the end of next week.

For the record: Im neutral on this movie (havent seen it) but YMS is one of the few critics (Ralph is another one) that i really trust on a films actual filmmaking quality. So yes, this is a banner year for horror, but to compare its reception to films like Get Out or IT is objectivly a bit far fetched.

YMS didn't realize it was a comedy. His points about the film's continuity ring true though.

His Jigsaw review is up and amazing :ohmygod:
