The Futurist
Maybe AMPAS french quota has been reached.;
FilmBuff
I believe this is a two horse race between Jessica Chastain and J-Law, but I still have to pick Chastain. She gave the best lead performance, and J-Law is overshadowed in her movie.
riczhang
Right now, I cannot see how Chastain wins. They just didn't like her film that much. 5 nominations isn't good. It's disappointing. I was expecting the same nine as THL's except switching Actor and Actress around.
baumer
Chastain was good. Jlaw was absolutely incredible. Rivas was one the best I have ever seen. If Chastain Ill be mad. She doesnt deserve it.
CloneWars
I agree with Baumer. I really want to see JLaw win. She gave a better performance than Chastain. Both were good performances though, but JLaw's performance was much better.
FilmBuff
Haven't seen Amour, but I disagree Jennifer Lawrence gave a better performance than Chastain.

The Dark Alfred
Chastain has zero chance. Amour and SLP is clearly much more loved.
4815162342
Chastain is in a similar boat as michelle williams last year. Williams won the bulk of the precursors but then davis and streep took the most important ones.
Jake Gittes
ZDT is much more popular, acclaimed and weighty than My Week with Marilyn, though. That movie had next to nothing to offer except for Williams' performance, while Chastain's is a great performance in the center of a great film. riczhang
Apparently not so great of a film to the Academy. Only 5 noms.
The Futurist
Apparently not so great of a film to the Academy. Only 5 noms.It s because it s not a period film which forbids a lot of tech noms : costume, make up, etcAnd there is only one big character for an acting nod. That was the benchmark and it failed spectacularly much to my chagrin. And even if it doesn't get score, Sound mixing, Director, and Cinematography were all possible nominations. FilmBuff
About to watch Amour, they were only showing it at one theater!
4815162342
Just saw ZD30. Chastain was very good but not as good as performances I saw from Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams this year. Best acting honors in ZD30 go to Jason Clarke IMO.

Jake Gittes
I thought the best female performance of last year came from Cotillard.
Jack Nevada
I havent seen Chastain or Lawrence yet, but at this point Wallis and Riva are my favorite female perofrmances from last year.I'd be ecstatic if either of them won
4815162342
I'll be seeing SLP within a week, though I wonder if I might end up deciding Lawrence fits better in supporting since the role from what I have heard is arguably borderline. We'll see.
